What is on the Micro SC card that came with the board?

I opened th Micro SD card that was delivered with the Pine64 board
and saw the following list of files on the card.


Volume in drive Q is BOOT

 Volume Serial Number is 424A-49A2

What are these files?
Why is the SC Card called BOOT?
If I download an image of Linux from Pine64.com to install it
on the SD card, must I first delete those files and format the SD Card?

no,  just dd copy the image ( unzipped of course ) or use the Etcher program:
