Open-Source Support for PineTime LTE (eSIM)
#2
For some hardware, it is supported under GNU/Linux by this: https://linuxphoneapps.org/apps/eu.lucaweiss.lpa_gtk/. So something like postmarketOS with the AsteroidOS UI could support it. But, GNU/Linux requires several orders of magnitude more RAM than what the microcontroller-class SoC of the current PineTime includes. So it would need completely different hardware, not just added LTE modem and eSIM chips.

It is possible that the code could be ported to Infinitime or some other PineTime OS, but one would need to port not only the eSIM management code, but also the whole modem interface (ModemManager or ofono), and the result would probably also not fit in the current PineTime's memory.
