It wouldnt matter since the purpose is to have that control so nobody can just set up shop on your modem and watch what you do or anything else that can come to their mind and also you can just take a mac address off of a modem that you own "keyword" you own(for the rest of the people that see this thread) and put it on the other modem thats open source.
