Hello! I'd like to post that using Gentoo in 2023 with Megi's kernel is wonderful now! Hoping to post a guide soon, but in the meantime, my advice would be to /not/ use the patches anymore, but instead follow the guide and use the proper USE flags as suggested, and otherwise install like normal (as in just normally following the x86 handbook). When it comes to the kernel, https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18540 this thread sort of details how to use Megi's kernel. This way, you don't have to do kernel compilation or worry about juggling different sources, patches, etc. I also personally use tow-boot on my PBP because I put it on there long ago and it was an easy install and I'm personally terrified of bricking my bootloader as I don't think I have the tools or capability to fix it. But it is working perfectly well with hibernation, sleep, HDMI out, etc.
