Well, I'm no expert,, I just "poke" at it until it works
in /etc/systemd/sleep.conf,,,,, SuspendState=mem,,, comment any conflicts
Elementary.... 5.7.11 kernel, the uboot is NOT updated (or mrfixit's??),
there is a uboot.itb in boot (for manual update), this is mainline (itb is mainline, merged uboot and ATF)
Be very cautious updating kernel or uboot, unless EXPLICITLY stated that sleep works (as s3)
manjaro is 5.8.14-1-MANJARO-ARM,, I think that is called linux-pinebookpro
Most of the bsp uboots are based on (updated) mrfixit, supposedly the manjaro bsp is
worthwhile,,, strings uboot.img | grep -i target ,, to see boot order & if usb is there
After the fedora update, s3 was gone
I don't know how to setup in mate, systemsettings5, power button ->ask,,,ignore lid switch
Not many people seem to care about good sleep,

Bad/non-existant sleep is the reason my PinebookPro currently sits unused. I recently started reading the forums again (inactive for 6+ months) to see if there is a solution to the sleep/wake issue. My unit, has failed to go to sleep reliably since the day I have received it. I was pretty active in searching out a solution at that time, but then just gave up do to lack of time.

Just last night recovered my really hosed manjaro sd card, I have been looking
for a deb packaged 'sleepable' kernel
Since the source is in image, I think elementry is self compiled,
I see that manjaro no longer has 5.8.14 in repo (still 5.7.19)
I guess next I should check fedora 32 and see if alien will work
xmix had a package in the past, at his git, more for video,
but I think it also had good sleep,,& a deb.. No more
arm64 Debian Sid with xmixahlx's kernel and BSP u-boot (release 2.0, which is different from actual u-boot version - the repo referenced by Danielt's "installer" script). With extra systemd service that restarts sound card after sleep (see the topic nearby about it where I posted my script and unit file) - so far deep sleep works very well for me, and after waking up I have working sound.

Dud they change the bug that prevented you from changing the background and WiFi dropping out after returning from suspend?
