`lsb_release -a`
Distributor ID: Debian
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 9.11 (stretch)
Release: 9.11
Codename: stretch
`uname -a`
Linux Debian-Desktop 4.4.190 #1 SMP Tue Sep 3 20:36:12 EDT 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux
My wlan0 device automatically goes down, I have to `ip link set wlan0 up`, and reconnect wifi, both 2.4G/5G wifi.
Should I use another kernel?

This is not the last update. There is an update via the mrfixit script
sudo /usr/bin/mrfixit-update.sh
It's more than recommended to do the update! (The kernel is the .196)

Thanks, I upgraded my kernel to 196, but the issue still exists...
Here are some /var/log/syslog, finally, wlan0 went down.

You can try and see, as the software keeps getting updated
I have not noticed a significant difference between Ubuntu and Debian. Weak WiFi is a known problem. Luke sounded very confident that it's not the hardware. So I'm guessing it could be the blob for BT/WiFi that might be shared by both builds.
Will a usb/wifi dongle work on the PBP ?
Could be a consumer/user temporary work around IF it would work.
Not all users can re-write each technology problem they come up against.

I have a usb wifi dongle which is used on Rasperberry pi1, after I inseted, PBP can not boot...
Hi, I think I found the solution, see it here:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...3#pid52633
Let me know if that is the case and if you still have questions.

Thanks for your solution, I tried it, but I think it doesn't resolve this issue.
I think the wifi issue is related to power service.
I got some error logs related to power service, and the upower.service is not started successfully ever, sometimes the battery icon appears on my bottom panel, and sometimes not, I think these are related to power service.

There is an easy test method for the wifi issue, download a large file, if the issue is still existing, wlan0 will down in several seconds, if I don't download a large file, it looks fine for me, e.g. exploring forum, etc, don't let the NIC process many packets at any second, I don't know why.
STRANGE, this seems to be a common issue,
but not everyone has this problem. ?

This is a bit of a worry, as you would think that a software issue would impact everyone, while select hardware issues would just impact a few.
My device can't hold a wifi signal for more than a few minutes without dropping completely (I'm sitting 2m from the AP also) and the same seems to be the case (to quite varying degrees) for at least 10 or so other users on this forum.
This makes me worry that some wifi cards have an issue or are overheating (more easily) than others.
Anyone with fresh suggestions on how to fix this please let us all know.
