On the 4:3 resolution, it is already on the to-do list. Due to 4:3 is not prefer format on HDMI output, there may be other issue to consider such as whether the HDMI-VGA adapter able to sync properly.
I know that there is no pan to support LVDS. All I am saying is that most of the people out there are not aware of the fact, that android mostly do not support 16:10/4:3 resolution over HDMI. Almost in every forum related to some Fruit-Pi/single-Board-Computer board are people asking: "I have this old LCD screen, an cheap adapter, everything works fine under Windows, how can I set the resolution to whatever under Android"
I will be amazed and happy to see support for VGA/DVI 4:3 or 16:10 screens. But if this is not possible please state that clear, so people are not wasting money on unsupported electronics.

I would like to know if the Pine64 will support the standart 4:3 and 16:10 resolution modes (1024y768, 1280x800, 1440x900 ...) running Android.
At the moment there is almost no platform supporting resolutions beside 16:9 which would allow Android development. Which is very missfortunate, because it will be great to use stripped, resource saving android together with hardware accelerated WebView to create hybrid applications with tools like cordova/phonegap ....
Easily to use Dragonface Software to fix resolutions problem .
1. Download Pine64 Android image file
2. Open Dragonface software
3. import image file
4. Open script.bin/fex file
And go to here link , to find disp init configuration

No, so I del
I have not try , but I saw too many people want to known.
If I am wrong please correct my content , thank !
1. Use Pine64 Running Ubuntu 16.04 Web Server ( LAMP )
2. Use Pine64 Running Official Android 6 for Media player
3. Use Pine64 Running Volumio Digital Audio Player
Hi Joe,
I know how to edit Allwinner configuration files, deal with DragonFace or ImgRePacker. I played with Orange Pi boards for a while and I realized following things:
1. Android images seems to ignore changes applied to the fex file, mostly the resolution stays 720p regardless to the settings.
2. Look at the Fex guide: all higher HDMI mode resolutions are 16:9. No way you can choose 16:10
There is a possibility to change some files related to hdmi and display. This allowed to set the 720p60 HDMI mode which in reality made 1280x1024. This hack was applied to linux kernel and i do not know if it will work under Android. Secondly, you have to recompile the kernel and replace the kernel (and modules ?) in your kernel with the compiled one.
If someone figure out how to do this and write an howto I will be more than satisfied to adapt those files to my needs. I was not successful with my Orange Pi yet - the tweaked Android image stuck on boot and I gave up, because there are almost no information how to do that.
I referred to my experiments on Orange Pi PC. I used ImgRePacker to extract the image files. For compiling the kernel you also need an Android SDK matching your Android image.
All in all, there are to few information about how to compile the Android Kernel and what to do afterwards - I gave up recently and hope Pine will offer better support for older displays,

@ joe, the dragonface software seems no yet support A64 platform, I just email Allwinner on their schedule.
It's good to know that 4:3 resolutions in Android are being investigated by the developers, I'm hoping to use mine with a 4:3 VGA panel.
The new Dragon face software just released to us yesterday. After try out working, we will post at Pine64 wiki page.
If you interest to try out now, here is the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0KJDZU...sp=sharing
P/S: Welcome back :-)
Any news on 4:3 support?
I also have a 4:3 VGA panel and therefore ordered the pine with a hdmi to vga adapter. But Now I found that it is not usable as 4:3 is not supported :-(
