The above dmesg log is from my first bootup of the Lakka test image :

Linux Lakka 4.4.83 #1 SMP Fri Sep 29 10:33:18 CDT 2017 aarch64 GUN/Linux

git version  28397b3

Rock64.arm-8.1.2

marcushh_Pb

retroarch does start;  there are a couple of fonts missing, but most gnu+linux stuff works from busybox;  python2.7 runs fine, nano and vim work (filesystem is ok), I am able to play around in the retroarch menu, see system information, exit and reboot;  no problems.

There are no roms apparently;  have not tried to play any games , nor have I tested my game pads yet.  I left you some more detailed messages on  irc  ( use !msg get ) .

I'll be around my lab on Saturday should you have questions, catch me on IRC.

marcushh_Pb

Shy

notes:

   Icons do not appear on the retroarch console menu;  I tried to load content;  and it did download;  but I must be doing something wrong, because can't seem to do anything with it;  I can navigate the console menu however;

The wifi settings fail to see my wifi dongle ;  scan doesn't see local networks;

My internet is broken, so can't complete the image download - once I have it sorted out I'll test the image.
Marcus, as for ROMs - no distribution can include ROMs, thats why they are not there Smile

I'm interested in trying it also, but can not find anywhere to download it. I understand it is BETA, but I'd like to help test it and report bugs.

It hasn't been made public, but given that as much feedback as possible is a good thing at an early stage I think its ok to share it on here. Do keep in mind its pre-release.

You can download the image here to test out and provide feedback.

Awesome, Luke. Thanks! I'll definitely keep in mind that this is prerelease and treat it as such.

Finally got around to trying it out ... sadly, it doesn't load retroarch assets. Also, it doesn't auto-start - i need to launch retroarch manually.

RetroArch will probably autostart if you remove textmode (or replace it with quiet) in extlinux/extlinux.conf on the boot partition

Yes. Still its weird that the assets don't load ... I experienced this in the past putting together a dedicated Retroarch build for the Pine64 - I remember that it was a permissions issue. Didn't have time to look into this - but I think the nature of the issue is different as the Lakka build runs as root.
