No 5GHZ WiFi networks available
#1
Hello,

Just got my pinebook pro in the mail and have been loving it so far, but it appears that I'm unable to connect to any 5GHZ WiFi networks.

This is very disappointing for me given how slow the 2.4GHZ band is due to congestion in my area.

Was wondering if anyone else had encountered this or had tips for troubleshooting

Hi, I have exactly the same problem. The first boot connected to the 5Ghz network but after software update now only detects 2.4Ghz wireless routers.

The updated WiFi firmware causes problems with 5Ghz WiFi. You should downgrade to the one linked in this post: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...9#pid67119

Then follow the instructions on downgrading from the Manjaro Wiki: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title...s_manually

That cleared it up for me.

Carlosqueso,
The link you posted about downgrading the wifi firmware is broken, clicking it takes you to a page that says that thread doesn't exist.  The Manjaro page link works though.

So I'm bad at copying and pasting....I fixed the link in the original post

This doesn't seem to effect all Pinebook Pros? I am keeping mine updated as usual and 5ghz wifi is working fine as far as I can tell.

Anyone got some further insights into this?

it works fine with lower 5Gchannels.
