I've had the Pinebook Pro for a few months now, and it's been perfectly fine until this afternoon. I was using it earlier this morning, plugged in with the barrel jack at 10% charge, to watch YouTube on the default OS. I left it to charge for a few hours (again, with the barrel jack) and when I came back the computer had zero charge. It will boot when plugged in, but of course shuts down when power is removed. I opened up the device and nothing appears out of the ordinary.

| hdmi hotplug |

Hi
I'm trying to get hdmi hotplug on a rock64 with debian buster. HDMI only works if I boot it with a screen already attached. I tried explicitly specifying the EDID but got a "size is invalid" there, and it's not exactly what I want, it should detect whatever screen I plug in.
Any help?

| Booting the Pinebook Pro |

In the wiki the boot order with the "OEM Debian installed" is listed as :
1) SD card
2) eMMC
(This boot order is loaded on the original OEM eMMC install)
So the SD will boot first if one is installed, or it will go to the eMMC if there is no SD card.
--------------------------
But the board default is listed as :
1) SPI NOR
2) eMMC
3) SD card
4) USB OTG
Does this mean that if it does not find anything bootable on #1 or #2 that it should still default then to the SD card ?
Since there is nothing on the SPI NOR from the factory, and if one was to botch their eMMC during a failed installation
or maybe just wiped it clean, .. .. .. then the SD card should 'boot' ?
(a botched install may cause it to hang "trying" to boot from the eMMC) ?
BUT, the SD card being used still must have the ''Correct boot instructions for this particular board"... (? yes ?)
boot instructions being matched to the hardware being used... ?
-----------------------------
The OSes listed in the wiki have the correct boot software already installed ?
SO ? If you want to install a different OS, you need to perhaps borrow the boot portion from a working OS ?

I'm trying to install manjaro onto my pbp. I flashed to SD card and that worked. Then I tried flashing the emmc installer to mmcblk1 t(SD card)rebooting and I am met with a blank screen. Did I overwrite the wrong file? Fdisk showed mmcblk1 as 14gb and that's what I tried flashing to. How can I resolve this? Is there a way to wipe the system and start new? Thanks so much.

I played around with a Mangaro image on SD and all was well. Tried changing don't size for these poor old eyes and worked. Also found screen resolution change option. So... I booted back up on the default internal image and tried the same. Found both settings. I set the screen resolution ton1024x768, as was the next visually larger size... Set to system wide and applied then rebooted. Now, after logging in (with larger fomt on login window).... It boots to a blank screen. No curaer, not mouse pointer. It occasionally does a light flash, like it's trying a different resolution, but now change. I don't have a USB to HDMI adaptor, so am stuck.
I can still boot to Mangaro, however. can iount the internal drive, and change a config file to get back to theddefault resolution1292x1080?
Thanks in advance
Dennis

Took my first pass at a case for my rockpro64 this weekend. Still have a lot of work to do on it but the first pass is done.
I am sharing the dxf and cambam files as well as docs on what I am up to with it. My plan is to use the rockpro64 as my development desktop for the pinebook pro.
https://github.com/xbcsmith/pine64.git
rockpro64.jpg (Size: 305.84 KB / Downloads: 800)
I used garolite for the prototype because I had a bunch on the shelf.
Future plans are to design a more closed in desktop case with support for the NVMe pcie card.
Also considering aluminum and some other materials moving forward.
Sorry about the double post. Feel free to delete one
