Compareing my PP with PP on videos
Posted by: harvey186 - 03-03-2020, 02:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

HI,

I have had a look on some videos about PinePhone. On the videos all OS are running very fast and smooth. I have tried them all on my PP, but none was working so smooth as on the videos.

Have someone an idea why ? Does I have bad hardware ? Is there a way to test the hardware / performance ??

  The future of the PinePhone
Posted by: Computer semi-expert - 03-02-2020, 09:10 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I read elsewhere on this site (the December casual update) that the Pinephone will be supplied for "at least 5 years." Which leads to the question: when Pinephone production ceases, will the Pinephone 2 be available? (I think everyone would want a Pinephone 2 to follow the Pinephone.)

Emmc to MicroSD adapter won't fit in recessed slot of pbp

Will not fit!  I don't want to link to an order page as it might cause confusion.  Attempted with Odroid Emmc to MicroSD adapter.  Will not fit since the slot is recessed in the pbp

Solution:

You'll want to an Emmc to USB adapter instead.  I've had no trouble with those. Cheers.  Smile

Hi

Does any of the systems available for the Pinephone allow for full disk encryption on the SD card?

  I2C on Android?
Posted by: ameridroid - 03-02-2020, 03:41 PM - Forum: Android on RockPro64 - No Replies

Is it possible to use I2C on Android on the ROCKPro64?

If it is not possible at present, is it possible with some additional work?

We have a need for that and we are willing to hire a developer. Let us know if you are interested.

Big Grin My PinePhone won't start. I am giving it away if you want to try and fix
Posted by: mswaleh - 03-02-2020, 11:58 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hi,
I got my PinePhone a few weeks ago. It worked great for a few hours. I tried changing the OS and all of a sudden, it won't start. I tried doing some of things people mentioned in the forum but it didn't work for me. Now it's just sitting on my desk.

If you want to try to fix and play with it, let me know. I can ship it to you, for only shipping. PM/DM me. Thanks/MS

  SystemImageKit?
Posted by: Paraplegic Racehorse - 03-01-2020, 11:57 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

I was just browsing through some AppImage stuff and stumbled across this:
https://github.com/probonopd/SystemImageKit

It made me wonder if this isn't ideal for SBCs, phones, etc.

What if /boot/grub2 (uboot in our case?) existed on some small bit of NAND,
along with /boot/SystemExtensions (chip/board-specific binaries not yet in mainline kernel, lima, panfrost, etc)
while /boot/iso is a symlink to the SD card with live ISO images with mainline kernels,
and persistent $HOME/ resides on either SD card or installed eMMC.

Is this a viable future path for SBCs and devices like PinePhone/Tab?
