Android TV 9 - sleeping mode and backup
Posted by: Ludovic - 04-24-2020, 03:39 AM - Forum: Android on Rock64 - No Replies

Hi everyone,

As a real noobie I have install android tv on my rock64 card board; I'm using it principaly to run KODI (might not be the smartest way to do it but that was my way).
It works almost perfectly but I am facing some problems:
- the board turns off when turning the TV in sleeping mode: is there a way to deactivate on android tv specifically the ANYNET+? what is weird is that the board turn off and on with the official IR remote that work, but I can't awake the board once off by the tv remote.
Any solutions?
- android tv is running very well but it isn't constant. Sometimes it is slow (more than 3 minutes) to fast to start and in that case it is running then slow ; I'm suspecting my RJ45 plug/connection (it connected to the network through a cable)
did someone have had any problem with the onboard plug?
- Backup(ing) my PC computer: what would be the simpliest way (using android tv) to back my PC on hard disk plugged to the ROCK64?
- last but not least: chromecast is integrated to android tv, is there a way to cast from my phone to the ROCK64 if the connection is done via a RJ45 wire?

I have checked on the different thread and I haven't found the answer, but I might haven't look well

thank for reading this message,

Ludovic

  Thoughts on NAS

Okay. So I don't (yet?) have any of the rk3399 SBCs but this might make me think again:

https://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=293  <-- IcyDock fits 8x 2.5" SSD bays into 1x 5.25" HDD/Optical bay.

It's just begging to have a RockPro with SATA-card bolted to it.

  mainline kernel sound support Openwrt
Posted by: lucize - 04-23-2020, 04:10 PM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (2)

I've made a build for Openwrt https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/2945 and I can't make the sound work (analog or hdmi), can someone verify if is something that I'm missing ? or maybe kernel 5.4 doesn't support this ?

  UART stopped working
Posted by: kuleszdl - 04-23-2020, 02:28 PM - Forum: Rock64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

The UART on my rock64 (using PINs 6, 8 and 10) stopped working after attaching it quite many times. Eventually I might have shortened something and damaged the board? Anyways, besides that the board itself seems to work fine. The same serial console is working with a rockpro64 so I am quite sure that it's a hardware issue (to be double-sure, I will try to double-check with a different rock64 from a collegue).

Anyways, is there any alternative UART that can be used? And what approach can you recommend to locate the fault?

WiFi 6 for the Pinebook Pro
Posted by: tsys - 04-23-2020, 01:53 PM - Forum: Pinebook Pro Hardware and Accessories - Replies (17)

Hi everyone,

@manawyrm and I have built a small adapter PCB that replaces the NVMe adapter with an Intel Wifi 6 card. WiFi feels a lot snappier using an Intel AX200 card compared to the onboard Broadcom SDIO WiFi. Maximum WiFi download speed is of course increased, too. With this adapter it is easily possible to reach upwards of 600 Mbit/s transfer rate.

This is how the adapter looks when installed in the Pinebook Pro:

Cheap 4-port SATA card working with RockPro64 4Gb
Posted by: andyburn - 04-23-2020, 11:04 AM - Forum: RockPro64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (6)

Hello,
Just a small post to report some success with a cheap 4-port SATA card on the Rockpro64
Big Grin
https://www.amazon.ca/Ziyituod-Controlle...5WRVNV0WZ8

It works with Ayufans 0.9.14 minimal, and with StretchOMV (Stretch) - with armhf variants.
All ports work. For testing I have a 4Tb Seagate, and 2 x 3Tb Seagate in RAID5. There is also a 2Tb drive not in the array.
(Card mode switch is set to AHCI boot)
For individual disks, under Debian using hdparm -Tt /dev/sdX, I was getting >100mb/s.

I will update when the array has finished syncing.

hdparm -Tt /dev/md0
/dev/md0:
 Timing cached reads:   2026 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1013.04 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 830 MB in  3.01 seconds = 275.87 MB/sec

Not bad for a little SBC.

Tongue
Thanks,
Andy

  Bluetooth Issue?
Posted by: FeMike - 04-23-2020, 04:02 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

I still run OOB Debian on my emmc and I believe it's the most recent which is from late December. The issue I'm having wasnt always there but I'm noticing that after a reboot or logout/login the Bluetooth icon works once. So say I pair a new bt mouse I would click the icon again to get to connected devices and select the gold star to make it a trusted device, that's where the problem occurs. After that first pairing when I click on Bluetooth it thinks for a bit then closes out no longer able to access bt settings. The search feature is not existent on mobile devices so I apologise if this is already a thread. Does anyone have the same problem and knows if a thread that covers this or some insight on this issue. Thank you.

How to change language in Bionic LXDE?
Posted by: mlentink - 04-23-2020, 03:08 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (4)

I have already searched for this in the forums, but can't seem to find an answer:
How do I change the language in Ayufan's Bionic LXDE?
I have already run a

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales

and added my locale (dutch, nl-NL), but this has no effect on the menu and panel menus (althought it does in the login screen).

Can I anybody point me to what I am obviously overlooking?
Thanks!
