Help analyze COVID-19 with ARM and Android
Posted by: jiyong - 04-07-2020, 03:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Rosetta@home has been updated for ARM64 and Android.
4GB RAM needed.
On my LG G5 I had to set a higher RAM limit (not sure if I had set it previously) in the app.
Next I'm going to test on the Pinebook Pro.

  Pinebook Pro versions?
Posted by: geokon - 04-07-2020, 01:10 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (5)

I was looking at the instruction for installing ayufan's Ubuntu and came across this compatibility list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...=906638659

It says pinebook pro v1 doesn't work... How do I determine which version I have? Since I was in the first/second batch.. I assume I have the v1. If so.. can I order some replacement part or something to make things work? I've been keeping up with the news but I didn't notice an announcement for changes in the internals other than the plastic composition

Kernel panics and spinlock when RAID mirror mounted
Posted by: bryan - 04-06-2020, 07:36 AM - Forum: RockPro64 Hardware and Accessories - Replies (2)

Hi everybody

I bought and setup my first NAS with two mirrored 4TB Seagate drives in April 2019.   Everything worked brilliantly and still does.

Code:
Linux pinky 4.4.167-1213-rockchip-ayufan-g34ae07687fce #1 SMP Tue Jun 18 20:44:4

Second NAS bought and configured with two mirrored 8TB Western Digital drives in January 2020; however kernel panics every 20 to 60 minutes when setting up a RAID mirror.
  • No issue mounting and using the drives in a RAID stripe.
  • Switched out the RockPro64 board, the SATA card (for identical Pine64 SATA card) and SD card; however same results.
  • Tried multiple images and kernels and got the same results.
My guess at that stage was the shucked drives or WD's handling of the RAID partition was causing the grief so bought two 8TB Seagate Barracudas.

With the Seagate drives, the panics where definitely less frequent.  Around 40% of the sync was complete before the first panic - after that I had to hard reset about half a dozen times to complete the eleven hour job.

With the RAID mirror unmounted, the device is stable and functions as normal.  When the RAID mirror is mounted, the kernel panic within four hours regardless of workload.

Code:
kernel:[  231.149029] Internal error: : 96000210 [#1] SMP
kernel:[  238.703488] BUG: spinlock lockup suspected on CPU#1, swapper/1/0
kernel:[  238.706806]  lock: 0xffffff800926fdf0, .magic: dead4ead, .owner: swapper/1/0, .owner_cpu: 1

Notes:
  • I am not sure if my first SATA card is an earlier generation than the two I subsequently bought.  Unfortunately I pulled the SATA connector away from the board on my original card when closing the case; it is currently held together with tape and is not in a state I want to switch it out for testing (one of the new ones was the replacement).
  • Everything was bought from Pine64 direct including the 12V/5A power supplies.
  • Have tried multiple releases and am currently running 4.4.202-1237-rockchip-ayufan running but can test on any build if anyone is interested in further info.
Code:
Linux BRAIN 4.4.197-1236-rockchip-ayufan-g30faab37e339 #1 SMP Tue Oct 22 11:35:10 UTC 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux

My next step is to get a PCIe SATA Marvell 88SE9230 and see if that resolves the issue for me; however if anyone else has any suggestions or tips to narrow the issue down further, they would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

  Manjaro Mouse
Posted by: cmelcher - 04-05-2020, 08:52 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (5)

I have an original (2019) PBP, and I saw great trackkpad functionality after updating the hardware back on Debian.  Ever since installing Manjaro, the trackpad has just had a mind of its own.  The problem persists when using a USB mouse.  Any idea what might be the problem?  The firmware should stay updated even after reflashing the OS, no?

  Google Play on Android 9.0

Hi all

I can't get any app downloaded to Android 9.0 on my Rock64.
I would like to have the Adblocker browser, so that I can watch Youtube without breaks.
Does anyone have this problem, and do you have a solution?

Thank you

Download IDB fail when trying to flash Android image
Posted by: cherkasoff - 04-05-2020, 07:41 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - No Replies

Hi there!

I had Android 7.1 by ayufan on my rock64 and it worked fine until some time ago.

Some day it just stopped booting and when I tried to reflash it I keep getting "Download IDB fail" error in android tools.

I tried to boot from SD and write image to emmc using dd. DD is successfull, but the board doesnt boot using emmc anyway.

Serial console is not available because pl2303 com port can't be open when it is connected to the board. Maybe I didn't connect it properly? Pins 6,8 and 10 right?

Also, I can boot any image from sd card, but not from emmc.

What else I can do to boot it from emmc?

P.S.: Also, I can't put the board into loader mode using recovery button. It is stuck in Maskrom mode.
