Poll 2: What is your favorite distro/interface for the PinePhone?
Posted by: amosbatto - 02-01-2021, 07:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (3)

I'm curious what people say is their favorite distro and interface on the PinePhone. Because the forum software only allows 10 options in polls and I count 35 different combinations of distros and interfaces, I'm creating 4 different polls, and will combine the four polls when tallying the results:

Poll 1:
Arch Linux (Phosh)
AVMultiPhone (Mate)
Fedora (GNOME)
Fedora (Phosh)
Gentoo (Phosh)
GloDroid (Android)
KDE Neon (Plasma Mobile)
LuneOS (Luna Next)
Maemo Leste (Hildon)
Manjaro (Lomiri)
----
Poll 2:
Manjaro (Phosh)
Manjaro (Plasma Mobile)
Mobian (jwm)
Mobian (lxde)
Mobian (openbox)
Mobian (Phosh)
Mobian (xfce4)
Nemo Mobile (Glacier)
NixOS (Phosh)
OpenMandriva Lx (Plasma Mobile)
----
Poll 3:
openSUSE (Phosh)
openSUSE (Plasma Mobile)
postmarketOS (i3wm)
postmarketOS (Kodi)
postmarketOS (Lomiri)
postmarketOS (Mate)
postmarketOS (Phosh)
postmarketOS (Plasma Mobile)
postmarketOS (Sway)
postmarketOS (Xfce4)
-----
Poll 4:
PureOS (Phosh)
Sailfish OS (Silica)
Sxmo (Suckless buttons interface)
Ubuntu Touch (Lomiri)
Other (explain in comments)

Please vote in one of the 4 polls. If you can't decide which is your favorite combination of distro/interface, then you can vote for multiple options. If I missed a distro/interface, please vote for "Other" and add a comment to this thread to explain your choice and I will tally it.

Results are tallied at: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?...6#pid88876

  Pinebook Pro wifi not working
Posted by: seyo-iv - 02-01-2021, 03:54 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (2)

Tried the killswitch but it doesn't help. Few boots away I had WiFi while I was using my sd card. Now I get no wifi or every boot, no deference if sd card or ssd.

WLAN dongles and bluetooth also not working.

Also /etc/network/interfaces is not existing. And the NetworkManager.conf is empty. And I seem to miss the network manager service... Just freshly installed kde, before that I had xfce, sadly same problem

Question A64 TDP / max CPU temperature
Posted by: grobbs - 01-31-2021, 10:53 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PINE A64(+) - Replies (3)

Hi.

What is the TDP or maximum, safe temperature for the A64+ board?

I have a heatsink attached but I would still like to make sure I know what the safe temperature range is. I'm using htop to see the current temperature reading.

Plasma Mobile CE Pinephone - battery not fully charging
Posted by: PineSupporter - 01-31-2021, 09:07 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (11)

I just received the Plasma Mobile CE Pinephone the other day and I wanted to fully charge it before using it, so I charged it for several hours while off.  When I turned it on it was only about 80%.  So I charged it more, and when I checked it again it's still only at about 85%.  I've since tried to charge it several hours while off and the most I've ever gotten is 87%.
I don't know if OS makes a difference, since the phone is off anyway but I've also tried charging with PostmarketOS on a SD card, and it still won't charge past 85%.

Is anyone else having this problem?  Is it a defective battery I need to request a replacement for?

(And yes, I removed the plastic tab of the battery before charging)

  Keyboard issue: Debian
Posted by: PineSupporter - 01-31-2021, 08:54 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (8)

I'm a new Linux user and I've had a PinebookPro for several months now, using the Manjaro KDE that it came with.  It's been great, and I'm lucky to not have any issues aside from a not so smooth trackpad.

I just flashed Debian onto an SD card, and it loaded fine, and I updated it.  However, I have some keyboard issues that aren't present when I'm using Manjaro.  I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with Debian?

Certain key functions are not accurate.  Here are some examples:

1.  When I try to do the | (pipe) key, it will do ~ (tilde) instead.
2.  @ will do "
3.  # will do some other obscure symbol not even on the keyboard
4.  ~ will also do another obscure symbol.

Everything else on the keyboard works fine in Debian, at least from what I've tried.  Anyone else have this issue or have any ideas on how I can resolve it?
Thank you

  Ubport CE to give
Posted by: toinebeg - 01-31-2021, 05:07 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (4)

I have to face the truth, I'm not using my Ubport CE pinephone and I have no time or will to maintain the phone for now.
I guess it's a bit too early for me. Sadly I passed over the new board upgrade and I don't have the skill to do the manual fix.

So I'm offering this phone for free, except for shipping cost. I can also give it to you directly if you are around Grenoble in France.
I hope it will help some hacker making this great system better.

Just PM me !

Info about getting a stable experience
Posted by: antoyo - 01-31-2021, 11:19 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - No Replies

Hi.
I wonder if there's a page in the wiki or somewhere that specifies anything I could try to make the phone more stable.
For instance, is upgrading the modem firmware something I should do regularly to have a more stable experience?
Maybe there's some software tuning that would make it more stable as well.

If there's no wiki page describing this process, where can I find this info?
Thanks.
