Wrong language installed on PINE64 mobian edition
Posted by: Derek7 - 04-02-2021, 05:25 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - No Replies

Hi all, just got my new Pine64 phone and some how I installed the wrong language. I'm guessing it is French. I've tried selecting Parameters (Settings icon/cog) and have set Langue to English (United States). Formats is set to Australia. Sources de saisa is set to Anglais (Australian), but everything still seems to be in the other language. I have tried removing the battery and re-installing it. I then tried the power button icon in the top right hand corner of the screen and selected the Restart option. The language still appears to be what I guess is French. Any assistance would be appreciated.

computer doesn't recognize pinephone for OS flashing
Posted by: Xzska-collab - 04-02-2021, 12:33 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (3)

Hello

I've bee here on this forum trying to learn whow to fix some issues on my pinephone. All these issues started when I was upgrading Mobian on the terminal and I mistakly removed the battery before it fished the upgrading.

Problems:
1st. I was unable to log in, "Oh no, something went wrong..." message showed asking to log out.
2nd. Then Pinephone woulnd not turn on, even when plugged in, only the green light was on.
3rd.  When plugged to the computer, the jumpdrive image appears on screen, but computer or Etcher do not recognize the pinephone (which is plugged in with the red a-c port cable of the Mobian CE I have).
4th. I am unable to boot from the micro SD card, phone only blink light on a black screen and I hear clicking, even after an hour, nothing change.

I believe if the computer recognized the phone on jumpdrive I would be able to flash it, but it does not, and I do not know if there is any hope for my pinephone Mobian CE.

Any suggestion?

  Floating Point Math performance
Posted by: LMM - 04-02-2021, 11:55 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - No Replies

Hello,
while making some benchmark with the rockPro64 using PassMark tool, I noticed that the "integer math" is 4+ times higher than the  "Floating Point Math" whereas in a lot of results for other processors (AMD or Intel) it is usually less than 2. Do you know where the gap comes from ? math coprocessors ?
I do not know if it make sens, but is it possible to use the mali GPU to performs math ops (I do not use any Graphical interface) ?

LMM.

Does PINE64 ship to South America? Is v1.2b the final hardware?
Posted by: amosbatto - 04-01-2021, 06:52 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (4)

I tried to order the PinePhone Beta today, but the shipping calculator says that it doesn't have a shipper for Bolivia. Since I have friends in Peru and Brazil, I tried putting in their cities as well, but again the shipping calculator reports that it doesn't have a shipper for those countries.

Is the shipping calculator correct that PINE64 doesn't ship to South America? Are there any plans to be able to ship to South America in the future?

My other question is whether v1.2b is the final hardware for the PinePhone. Does PINE64 have any plans to fix the backlight flicker bug? If PINE64 is planning on a final board revision, then I'm willing to wait, but if this is the final hardware, I might as well order now.

  checksums for images

i haven't found any checksums for the "stable" images, and it would be nice to have them signed

Experimenting with Kdenlive on the PineBook Pro seemed to suggest that editing on the PineBook Pro is totally doable, especially more basic editing

Lightbulb Product Idea: Pine Graphics Tablet
Posted by: israel - 03-31-2021, 08:00 AM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

Graphics Tablet: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=graphics+table...&ia=images

It should be fairly easy to repurpose some of the parts from the Pine Tab to make the screen.  It would seem that the main challenge would be to create a PCB  and program the board to function as a "Wacom" type input device.  It also could be as simple as making the tablet mirror the display, and function as the input device as well.  The main missing component would be the pen device itself.  This seems like potentially the biggest challenge, though it may be very simple.
I really like using graphics tablets, but having one that was built openly might make sense to more artists in this age of NFTs.
The ability for a proprietary tablet to have un-patched vulnerabilities that could compromise your original work may become an increased concern in the future.  It might be good to get ahead of the issues proprietary hardware has before people are clamoring for it retroactively because they have lost artwork, or had it compromised in someway.

Today is a great day for Phosh

I was having a look on reddit and have seen 2 brilliant Phosh improvements both come along today.
I've tried both, and they both worked great for me.
This really makes Phosh much more appealing.

No Sound on Default Manjaro KDE
Posted by: carlosqueso - 03-30-2021, 06:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook Pro - Replies (4)

So, I have no sound on Manjaro KDE through either the speakers or the regular headphone jack.  I think this happened after an update, and I don't think I've changed anything, but I don't use sound terribly frequently, so I may have done something.  This is what I've found out so far:

I asked over in the Manjaro forum, but it appears they're stumped.  Anybody here have any troubleshooting ideas?

Open Media Vault - Help needed
Posted by: janeku - 03-30-2021, 06:42 AM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (3)

Hi.
I know there is some info about open media vault and using Pine64+ as a NAS device on this forum, but looks like OMV is no longer supported.
Would somebody help me and explain me how and where to download image for OMV to run on my Pine64+ board ?
Or just tu put a link to iso image (OMV github is active but I can't find any Pine64 iso's) where I can download it.
Also new experiences concerning Pie64+ and it use as a NAS storage device would be appreciated.
Regards,
