Manjaro Plasmamobile not booting after update [Solved?] |

I put the beta2 of plasmamobile on a card and have been booting off that. It did a fairly large update a few days ago, which worked without a problem. Today's update, though, gets me nowhere except a K-gear icon and a black screen.
The cursor is there and responds as normal to touch, but nothing else. It doesn't even drop to command line.
Anyone else having this issue? And have any fixes? Before I reinstall from a new image.

Sxmo on Arch |

i would like to run Sxmo under Arch. I seem to have some minor issues when using https://git.sr.ht/~mil/sxmo-build to instal sxmo on top of the barebones Arch from https://github.com/dreemurrs-embedded/Pi...h/releases The first issue is that Pacman can not find ttf-nerd-fonts-mono, but I assume ttf-fira-mono will do just fine. So that's the least of my worries.
The second issue is where I'm sadly stuck at the moment. it appears that I have to install xinit additionally, by hand and set up xinitrc. I'm not quite sure how to do the latter. If someone knows how to set up the Arch installation to boot into the dwm window manager, I would be grateful. I hope that this thread turns in to a short guide on how to get Arch+sxmo running (I could not find such a guide on this forum).

xming? |

I just ordered a pinephone.
I am wondering, once some of us have to start having to physically go to meetings, could I simultaneously use my pinephone as a wifi hotspot to connect my employers Windows laptop to the Internet, and simultaneously export applications from the pinephone to xming on said laptop?
If so then that would be epic
My employee laptop is rather locked down, but apps that they do allow me to have on it are putty and xming.
If I could do that then I could have my own email and personal web browsing apps exported as individual windows on the Windows laptop all mixed up with the work applications and no one would notice.
For the situations when I am at the company office and therefore on the corporate LAN I am thinking of writing a program that tunnels X11 over serial. I was thinking of connecting a Pi to the laptop with a back to back FTDI null modem (I have one). I would need a program that opens a listening deamon pretending to be an X server on the PI and a program that pretends to be a number of X clients on the laptop which would connect with xming, with the two programs connected by serial. Maybe this could work on the Pinephone as well but I need to write this program.

online accounts in UBports |

are there any fixes, or workarounds known, to implement CalDAV / CardDAV accounts to UBports Ubuntu touch? I found syncthing in the software store, but I wouldn't know how to sync my nextcloud. Nextcloud by owncube, or Ghostcloud rely on system setting's online accounts, so they will not connect. Vdirsyncer seems an option but I am not sure on how to install, as it's not available in the store.

Advice on increasing WIFI range |

Hi, I'm using my PBP to work remotely. I'd like to visit cafes in rather poorly developed countries and not have to worry too much about the wifi signal.
I'm wondering if I can get a Mini U.FL PCI to RP-SMA cable, maybe bore a hole in the case to attach some kind of heavy-duty Wifi antenna directly to the existing wifi antenna ports. Would that help or would it be pointless as it wouldn't raise the voltage to the antenna?
Would it then make more sense to get a long-range USB Wifi adapter?
could I even splice the RP-SMA cable into the existing antenna and use it, with the extra bulk of an external antenna, only when necessary?
Thanks!

USB3 SATA |

Greetings,
I have a plan to use my Rock64 to host an OwnCloud/NextCloud instance.
In order to accomplish this, I would need to beef up the storage. I happen to have a spare SATA drive that is a SSD.
Would the Rock be able to power the SSD a USB3 to SATA cable or would I need an explicit power supply for it? Has anyone similar experiences or knowledge to share?
Regards,
R.T.G.

Warning: Boot regression in latest kernels (4.19, 5.10 etc.) |

Hi folks,
after installing the latest kernel updates, two of my A64-LTS boxes stopped booting. Interestingly, my A64+ boards (not the LTS variants) were not affected. The issue was that the device did not detect the SD card anymore.
It took me quite a while to figure out what was wrong as reverting back to the old kernel did not help. It seems like the updated DTB files are the issue. Booting the new kernel using the old DTB files works fine. This issue affects both kernels from the stable (!) as well as unstable branches in Debian. The affected kernels in Debian are:
- 4.9.181-1 (2021-03-19)
- 5.10.24-1 (2021-03-19)
However, I suspect that this change might affect other distributions as well since the new DTB files were merged directly into the mainline kernel. I suspect the following commit to be causal for the issue:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ker...35d81cc15d
Therefore, should you encounter the same issue, switch back to the DTB files from the previous kernel.

Pinephone extra pogo pins |

I correctly have a Motorola moto z3 play which has 16 pogo pins on the back to accommodate for a variety of mods. I understand that there already exists a handful of pogo pins on the pinephone currently but these pins don't seem to support as many features as the motorola phones.
Would this be the best place to put forward the idea to add more pogo pins to allow more options of mods like the moto z family? If not where is the best place to send this through? And if it is...
Please add more pogo pins such as DSI, CSI, I2S, and USB2/3. TIA.
