My pinephone just arrived today, but i hadn't realized the pinestore also sells cases for the Pinephone. My question is, If i decide to order a case, Am i going to have to pay import fees on it again? Obviously Shipping would be charged, but I'd  prefer not to have to drop another $25 on customs to get a case.

I received my Pinecil, purchased March 31st, yesterday.

I powered it with an old laptop power supply (21v - I checked it).

I played with the menu for 5 minutes or so, then I tried my first soldering...The temperature barely reached 314C (and oscillated from 310 to 314 during that time)...it lasted 10 seconds or so (just the time to tin the tip and try it on my solder wire...and it died.

Since, not powering up, no USB registration if I plug it into a computer....I think it is dead. 

Any similar experience? Any hint? I opened a ticket early this morning, but no answer so far...
It is really frustrating to wait for 3 weeks...for less than 10 minutes of lifetime...

I need working with the webcamera!

I'm currently trying to build from source a UBTouch image, for the Pinephone and I'm following these instructions :

Apparently, the images are built using the tool "debos" : https://gitlab.com/ubports/core/rootfs-builder-debos
But after following the provided instructions (installing Docker, etc) and running the command :

./debos-docker -m 5G pinephone.yaml

I have the following error :
"Action `Pine64 common` failed at stage Run, error : stream error: stream ID 1; INTERNAL_ERROR"
... right after trying to download the UB Touch rootfs.

I'm wondering whether this is some kind of network or proxy problem (I can download the rootfs just fine with a web browser, though), or if anybody else has the same issue ?

A look at PinePhone keyboard prototype

In this month's community update I wrote that once the keyboard molding arrives from the factory I'll make a post about it. I know that many of you are eagerly awaiting news, so now that it is here (well sorta, I'll get to that) I'm happy to oblige with some show-and-tell.

I decided on posting a forum rather than a blog post simply because there isn't enough here for me to write about to warrant a blog entry. I currently don't have an ETA of final molding, store availability date, functionality status report, etc,. Also, if you just found out about the keyboard's existence, then I encourage you to first read this blog post, followed by the March community update.

Let me give you some context for the pictures and video. This pictured molding isn't actually final - there are still a handful of touchups needed. Most notably, the key caps need to be remolded because the tolerances are currently not quite right. This will take some 2 weeks or so I'm told. The final keyboard will also be all black (although I think it looks nice with the white bit), and of course the key caps will have latter and labeling we all decided on a while back.

Lastly, the video and pictures were shot at the factory, and are meant to show progress rather than being promo material. Also, that PinePhone has seen things  

That's all I have for you today, but it is likely I'll have more details to share in the May community update.

sx1302_hal compiles/installs on Armbian without issue.

EXPERIMENT: SET UP RAK_COMMON_FOR_GATEWAY (ORIGINALLY FOR RPI: SOME MOD REQUIRED - NOT QUITE FINISHED):

Run sudo armbian-config. Enter System to enable SPI/UART for sx1302/rak/GPS.

I am currently testing intensively rockpro64 in a blockchain usecase on a testnet.
As it is higlhy transactionnal, zfs OLTP performances are very appropriate to this usecase.
Actually it is the case, some easy arc size tuning makes it very performant in extreme i/o conditions.
No I want to mode forward for production testnet and I want to make it as safe.
I have found many adapters for a single nvme SSD, and I am looking for a dual PCI SSD adapter to run mirrored zfs pool on rockpro64.
Has anyone of you already found such PCIe adpater (not looking for an USB aspater) ?
For more details, I am running armbian focal ubuntu server on a rockpro64 SBC with a 2GB arc size on a 1GB zfs pool on nvme.

I hope I'm right here. I experience a weird behaviour for some time now with my KDE Community Edition PinePhone:

As long as I touch the screen, the brightness goes to normal. As soon as I lift my finger, the screen dims down to minimum immediatly.
The problem does not appear, as long as the phone is charging. But if it is not connected to the charger, the Pinephone is unusable like this. Shortly everything was ok, maybe this has come from a recent update.

What could be the reason? System is up to date...

Not every time, but sometimes when trying to power the phone off, an error appears and I get a mouse pointer. But the screen is too dark to read the error message (even with flashlight). The phone stays in this state until powering it of the hard way.

I found this thread which might provide a solution. But I'd prefer not to touch system files.
Did anybody experience this and solved it?
