which distro and desktop environment are you using, and why?

what are its strengths and weaknesses compared to other combos?

How to keep the display of the 120W PinePower turned off?
Posted by: pinepoweruser - 07-14-2021, 03:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

I would like to keep the display of my 120W PinePower power supply turned off and make it more difficult to turn on.
At the moment it wakes me up at night a lot because it randomly turns on. I suspect this happens every time the phone reaches 100% and stops charging and then again when it dropped to 99% and starts charging again.
I also constantly press the touch button that turns the display on/off accidentally and I would like to make it so that you have to hold the button for a few seconds before it toggles the display.

Can this be done without modifying the hardware? E.g. by flashing a modified firmware?
Or would I have to physically modify the hardware? If that's the only option I'd be willing to go that route. I have some experience with Arduinos and ESPs.

Any help would be appreciated.

  Trustzone support for Rock64
Posted by: capablegh - 07-14-2021, 01:16 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (1)

Hello!

The documentation for Rock64 mentions of support for Trustzone. Also, the Trusted Firmware A (TF-A) has "plat/rockchip/rk3328". Are there any instructions on how to build and test TF-A and OP-TEE on Rock64?

I am asking because I would like to purchase one if it is supported, and recommend to others depending on evaluation results.

  Trustzone support for QUARTZ64

Hello!

The documentation for Quartz64 mentions of support for ARM Trustzone. Is this available to test at this time, where can I find the repo/sources and the instructions for it? I am looking for OP-TEE along with TF-A support. If there is no support at this time, when is it expected to be?

I am asking because I would like to purchase one if it is supported, and recommend to others depending on evaluation results.

how to connect calindori to nextcloud?
Posted by: Uturn - 07-14-2021, 08:28 AM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (2)

sorry, but I don't get this plasma mobile offering accounts setting for nextcloud bot omitting the calendar.
Plus Calindori offering to connect shared calendars by eMail and Password.
Now as a nextcloud user, I'd rather give my nextcloud URL plus password, but Calindori insists on a eMail.
Is there a way to use nextcloud calendaring in Manjaro Plasma Mobile? Vdirsyncer might be, but it is not available via discover.

Newbie unable to connect to internet
Posted by: Derek7 - 07-14-2021, 05:19 AM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (2)

When I try to connect to the internet I receive "Problem loading page" and "Your connection is not secure" messages.

For example, I opened Firefox this evening
Selected option to download "uBlock Origin"

Selected "Add to Firefox"
And received the following message :

Problem loading page
https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user/addo...9b11ff1415
Your connection is not secure
The website tried to negotiate an inadequate level of security.
Addons.cdn.mozilla.net uses security technology that is outdated and vulnerable to attack. An attacker could easily reveal information which you thought to be safe. The website administrator will need to fix the server first before you can visit the site.
Error code:
NS_ERROR_NET_INADEQUATE_SECURITY

Changed “Search Preferences” from DuckDuckGo to Google and entered “Service NSW” into the Google search bar and received the following message:

Problem loading page
https:////google.com/search?client=firfox-b-e&q=service+nsw

I have checked Software Updates is up to date.

Assistance in directing me to a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Sound stuttering on Manjaro gnome after latest kernel upgrade?
Posted by: pjsf - 07-13-2021, 10:37 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - No Replies

Usually the sound on my PBP has been fairly good, but the most recent set of Manjaro stable channel updates I've been getting stuttering/cutouts in videos played via chrome.

Checking the logs they're full of acpi messages about the sound. I stopped apcid service with

systemctl stop acpid

and manually restarted it from the command line with:

acpid

and the problems have gone away. Anyone know what the cause is or suggest any possible solution?
