  Mobian 'HotSpot"
Posted by: bcnaz - 08-15-2021, 06:45 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (8)

Huh

I have the Mobian August 15th nightly running from the sd card on one of my PMOS Convergent phones.

The cellular data is working okay,  but I cannot seem to get the Hotspot to turn on...  ?

I do not know if that is a carrier problem,  or a software problem.    BUT it Did Work the last time I tried it..?

I do not use data very often on my Pine phone,  and

 *   I do not remember how long ago it was the last time I used the hotspot,

on this phone, it is still the same carrier as when it did work,  'Pure Talk',  they are an MVNO of AT&T.

  Tutorial request: overclocking a rockpro64
Posted by: Mentaluproar - 08-14-2021, 11:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - Replies (1)

I understand I can overclock the rockpro64 by modifying the dtb.  I was able to decompile it into a dts and edit it with values I found from the OP1 dtsi, but I cannot get it to compile with them back into a DTB.  I know if I screw this up a certain way, I can burn my board, so rather than post my edit here and risk missing something, I want to understand how someone was able to do it properly.  I saw pin64 has a page in their wiki, but it's more of an explanation of how it works than how to accomplish it.  Is anyone willing to write this howto?

  Video playback with hardware acceleration
Posted by: jojuma - 08-14-2021, 03:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Hello...!

Shortly I read about 'Clapper' which plays back videos using hardware acceleration on the PinePhone, at least if the video's codec is H.264. I have a video file, whose codec is H.264 but the screen simply stays black, it doesn't even start.
On Youtube I saw a demonstration of Clapper with a demo video (screenshots of this video are on the flathub site linked above). Can someone point me to this demo video or another video that works so I can take a look at the specs. I'd like to encode some videos with Handbrake according to those specs.

Thanks for any hint!

  Getting started
Posted by: hrleno - 08-14-2021, 11:24 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PineTime - Replies (6)

I just received my Pine Watch and upgraded the firmware to 1.2.0. Seemed to happen almost as i was going through the settings. My main question is how do I set the time on it? I'm using Manjaro on my Pine Phone and can get it to connect via Bluetooth, but not much else. Is the an app that's needed? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  4G disconnect requires reboot
Posted by: cnxsoft - 08-14-2021, 06:07 AM - Forum: Manjaro on PinePhone - Replies (9)

I've running Manjaro Linux Mobile Plasma, and 4G connectivity is unreliable.
Sometimes it will just show "modem busy" or "the modem shows no carrier" messages, while other times it will connect properly. But next time it disconnects from the 4G network which could be 30 minutes to over 24 hours, it will not recover. The only option I have found so far is to reboot the phone. Sometimes, I have to do this 5 to 10 times to get a connection. Is there anything I could do to prevent this issue, or at least force reconnect without a reboot each time the connection is lost? Thank you.

  HDMI out?
Posted by: scanfff - 08-13-2021, 10:47 PM - Forum: Android on RockPro64 - No Replies

Hello,

I've tried several images (I'm booting from the SD card) but none give any output on the hdmi port.  I noticed the images say for 7" LCD is this why? If so how can I modify the image or code to output to the hdmi port?  Also if there's a link for the Android 9 source used on the PRO do anyone have a link.

Thanks,
Aaron

  Wired headset mic stopped working
Posted by: Zebulon Walton - 08-13-2021, 06:43 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (4)

I've been using a wired headset with the Pinephone in noisy environments since the built-in earpiece volume is usually pretty low. Suddenly I'm finding that the microphone is not working. I can hear the call just fine, but the person on the other end cannot har me. Tried leaving voicemail to myself with the same result. Figuring maybe the microphone just went bad I bought another headset but it has the same problem. I tried toggling the mute button on the mic and the Pinephone screen reacts but the microphone still doesn't work on either headset.

This is in Mobian. I checked the settings and the input is set to the Headset Microphone with volume on full. The headsets have 4-conductor jacks. Should I try one with 3 conductors? Or did a software update knock out the audio path from the microphone to the modem?
