Making a call in Phone kills PPP phone
Posted by: tckosvic - 02-01-2022, 08:42 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - No Replies

Placing a calll in "Phone" or "Phonebook" now kills the phone completely to a black screen immediately.  Reboot is necessary.

When I first got phone and got it to boot, I tested Phone and it worked fine.  I use Consumer Cellular sim card.  This worked fine on previous PP.  Cellular network in settings shows sim card operating properly.  Initial calls worked fine.

Since these initial tests of phone,  I have done a major system upgrade with pacman.  I have also added a contact list to Phonebook using kdeconnect.

I am thinking of undoing the upgrade (approx 390 packages) to see if phone comes back.

Also, perhaps reinstalling phone and phonebook if I can find the file names.

Anyone have any further ideas?

Perhaps reset the RE switch which I don't know what it really does, then reboot????  Gotta get back to where I was.

thanks,       tom kosvic

I did find out that incoming calls are working

USB to PC connection not charging PPP
Posted by: tckosvic - 02-01-2022, 05:40 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - No Replies

I am finding that it is necesary to conect ppp to a charger connected to 120v to increase the battery charge.  Connecting to pc with USB (even USB C) does not seem to provide enough power to increase the indicated battery charge.  And this was with an inactive phone.

I had ppp connected by usb to pc and I was having a hard time getting anything to boot and if booted wouldn't stay booted.  I finally noticed that the battery charge was near zero.  What I had been blaming as software failures was likely caused by insufficient battery charge.  This was after leaving phone connected to pc through usb overnight.

Upon connecting to charger the battery charge increased to 98% in just an hour or so even with active things going on with the phone.  The software problems have basically gone away.

New phone - Only red/green light. No boot.
Posted by: migaligaz - 02-01-2022, 05:39 PM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (2)

I have a new pine64 and once unpackaged, removed battery plastic, attempted to power on. Only red/orange indicator appears, black screen. Inserted micro sd with mobian image and got a green indicator but still black screen.
Would really love to get this bad-boy up and running! Thanks!

method to install files on PPP from linux PC
Posted by: tckosvic - 02-01-2022, 04:12 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (4)

Wish to move at least contacts file to PPP.

I tried jumpdrive (pp version) on an sd card and nothing.  My linux pc file managers do not even see the PPP

Anyone have a breakthrough?

  Factory AOSP image source?
Posted by: krazey - 02-01-2022, 03:53 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - No Replies

Mostly no one care about Android on the PPP but would by nice to have the source of the factory AOSP image. Is there anything? (:

Thanks in advance

chatty v0.6 in Bookworm at last!
Posted by: treebeard - 02-01-2022, 02:19 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (13)

FYI, chatty v0.6 rolled in to Bookworm this morning.  This includes some big and important updates to - hopefully - make MMS work properly (among other stuff).  The Pinephone might finally become my "daily driver".

  SD Card insertion depth
Posted by: nristen - 02-01-2022, 12:02 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (4)

I want to verify how far an sd card should be inserted into the pine phone pro...

Please comment if the SD card depicted is inserted too deeply.

  Tank temp sensor
Posted by: bannerd - 02-01-2022, 11:35 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hey all, I have a large water tank and I'm looking for a sensor that will give me temp read outs.  It needs to be submersible if not, we can make it waterproof using plastidip or 3M Marine board dip.

Let me know, the sensor wire needs to be at least 3ft for one area and 14ft for the other tank side.

  Bent SD card pin
Posted by: bhboyle - 02-01-2022, 07:52 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (5)

Good morning.

Yesterday I received my new Pinephone Pro. As you can imagine I was excited.

Right away my excitment turned to sadness. I noticed there is a problem with the updates. I will not update at all due to some errors. It would not work via the gui or the command line. No problem I thought, I will just reinstall the OS. It was at this point that I saw the bent pin in the SD card reader. The pins are failrly badly bent. It refuses to boot of any SD card I have.

So now I have a $399 paper weight. Sad

  Building an image with phosh
Posted by: liara - 02-01-2022, 06:36 AM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (1)

Hello,
Sorry if this is a redundant question but I am trying to build an image of a distro with phosh for the pinephone.
Is there a guide or a documentation to start with ?
Thank you
