opensnitch outbound firewall now works on mobian
Posted by: vusra - 01-17-2022, 12:49 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (2)

open snitch outbound firewall now works on mobian with the  5.15 kernel.  librem5 users
have had this available longer. Important tool to protect your privacy and security.    Phosh  can handle the pop up windows better. The time limit drop down menu  opensnitch-ui displays is cut off. Hard to scroll down and choose until reboot or forever.

how to update mobian over tor
Posted by: vusra - 01-17-2022, 12:38 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (14)

Code:
sudo apt install apt-transport-tor  tor

 Edit  /etc/apt/sources.list  as root

Code:
sudo nano  /etc/apt/sources.list

Make it look as

Code:
#deb  http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm main
deb  tor://2s4yqjx5ul6okpp3f2gaunr2syex5jgbfpfvhxxbbjwnrsvbk5v3qbid.onion/debian bookworm main

Edit  /etc/apt/sources.list.d/extrepo_mobian.sources  as root

Code:
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/extrepo_mobian.sources

and put    tor+  in front of  the https://repo.mobian-project.org/   url

Code:
Uris: tor+https://repo.mobian-project.org/

Who knows why mobian doesn't use the debian-security repository by default?   My mate says it is a good idea to add it to /etc/apt/sources.list

Code:
deb  tor://5ajw6aqf3ep7sijnscdzw77t7xq4xjpsy335yb2wiwgouo7yfxtjlmid.onion/debian-security bookworm-security main

Setting mode to docked with keyboard?
Posted by: johns - 01-16-2022, 09:51 PM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (1)

With the keyboard case attached, is there a way to force docked mode in phosh? At least in Mobian, the Undocked icon is greyed out. Don't really want the OSK popping up automatically when the keyboard is attached.

(I know I can disable the OSK in accessibility settings, but that also makes the icon to manually summon the keyboard disappear.)

  Mobian updates for phosh
Posted by: steves - 01-16-2022, 07:04 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (2)

Howdy,
This is likely a very stupid question... However, I've been keeping my pinephone up to date running mobian via `apt-get update; apt-get full-upgrade`, and have noticed that it's still on phosh 0.11.0-1mobian1, when the latest phosh is 0.14.1. Also looking at debian the latest stable is 0.08.0, and the latest unstable is 0.13.1.

Why is phosh stuck at such an old version or is there something wrong with my mobian updates?

  MATE on pine phone

Is there some development for the MATE DE to be implemented on the pine phone?

  Case compatibility
Posted by: JD1er - 01-16-2022, 03:52 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Accessories - Replies (3)

Hello, everyone
in the wiki (link 1) and the announcements made, it is considered that the accessory boxes (such as the fingerprint reader and the keyboard) and the screen protector (link 4)are compatible with both the original Pinephone and the new one.

However, the question that I did not see answered is about the protective boxes (link 2 and 3). Are they compatible? ( because it seem the new one is a little thicker)
If anyone knows i'm sure i'm not the only one with this question.
Otherwise, if someone already has an original pinephone with the case in question and who intends to order the Pro, an update upon receiving the new Pinephone Pro could also respond to the question.

Thanks in advance for all of you

  Development build 805 is great
Posted by: mercrapper - 01-16-2022, 01:39 PM - Forum: UBPorts on PinePhone - Replies (3)

It's been a while since I used my pine phone (original ubports editing). Decided to dust it if yesterday, installed the latest stable build I could find, then updated too the latest development build. 805 has been working great. Now that I have not tested any cellular functionally, but everything else seems to work great. I was able to add a Google account. Now my calendar,
and contacts are up to date. The Gmail app works. The music player works (on board speaker is not great, but pair it to a bt speaker and it sounds great. That leads me to the next point, Bluetooth seems to work. Wifi works and stays connected with the screen off. The only problem with the wifi seems to be that it promptis for a password when you leave the wifi range and come back. Battery seems pretty good, although having it on overnight, even in sleep will drain it. Maybe soon work is still need on deep sleep.

I was also able to install syncthing and get it to sync my music to my SD card. Awesome.

I just downloaded and installed 807. Will give that a whirl and report back if I notice and differences.

One more thing. The main camera seems to work, at least it opens and shows the preview. I can't switch to the selfie camera though. Quality is not great, but I don't think it's a super high res camera anyway

Plex app works, although the interface is not pretty like on Android or desktop, I was able to start a movie and it played flawlessly. One problem is that the screen kept going blank when it ruined it. Would be great if it was smart enough to prevent sleep when a video is playing.

The GPS doesn't seem to work. Not sure if you still have to do the work around, but I tried both pure maps and unav. They both start, but neither one could find the GPS.

So I tried the GPS work around, but no joy. Unav still gets stuck waiting for GPS. So it looks like that still doesn't work on 809

  flatpack on mobian
Posted by: jyoung - 01-16-2022, 10:10 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (8)

Does anyone know how to install flatpack on mobian? It's not findable in the "software" app, and 'apt-get install flatpack' returns that it can't find the package. I found one forum thread which suggested that flatpack is available through the unstable repository. If this is true, is there a way to switch to unable for just this package?

Question What's the Pinephone headphone jack/similar part?
Posted by: nfd - 01-15-2022, 07:16 PM - Forum: PinePhone Hardware - Replies (1)

My headphone connector is a little messed up, e.g. I need to use a rubber band to hold my headphone cables *just so* in order to use the thing. I'm looking that part or similar-enough ones that I could swap out on my board. I'm not afraid of a little soldering and I think it'd be a little silly to buy an entire new mainboard just due to one headphone connector. (My mic is apparently also messed up: given my skill I'd expect it'd be better to just order a new daughterboard and install that, but if anyone's aware of that part, LMK?)

https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone_component_list lists the part as "JA-3606-001AA 3.5mm audio jack". I didn't find this exact ID on alibaba or digikey, and I haven't found especially similar-looking TRRS jacks on Digikey in a few minutes of digging. So if anybody's got a decent set of calipers to get some approximate dimensions of the connector on their Pinephone, maybe I can use that information to try to find something with a similar spec sheet?

Any other ideas or advice would be welcome Smile

  Waydroid Intallation on Bookworm
Posted by: Dinosaur1946 - 01-15-2022, 06:55 PM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (6)

Hi All

I have browsed for days and simply can't find a description on how to install Waydroid on Mobian.
Have installed it on Manjaro no problem at all.
If I were to go back to bullseye, it would probably succeed as well.

There are also a few posts about how well it runs on Bookworm, but alas no description as to the method used.

Is there anyone on this forum that could describe how to overcome the bullseye limitation, it would really be appreciated.

Regards
