  Use keyboard case as virtual mouse
Posted by: EwigeBlumenkraft - 03-18-2022, 03:24 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Accessories - Replies (1)

Has anyone tried to use the keyboard case as a virtual mouse?
I think it would be great for dealing with non mobile friendly applications if that was possible.

  Stuck in Mask ROM Mode
Posted by: somesalmon - 03-18-2022, 12:03 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (3)

So I just received my PPP about two days ago and at some point while it was in my pocket it switched into Mask ROM Mode (assuming it was a corrupt emmc) I tried following the thread in the general discussion by removing the battery holding the RE button and booting from sd card (I tried this with two separate microSD cards) to no avail. I have left it charging for a few hours at this point figuring it could be a dead battery although that doesn't seem probable as there has been no change despite attempting a reboot several times I get no LED or screen turning on and any time I check the connection from my pc with lsusb it simply returns that it's in Mask ROM Mode every single time.
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm willing to try anything at this point I was very excited to give this device a go and am very disappointed it's been nothing but a paperweight since I received it..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE: I installed tow-boot onto my sd card and attempted to boot from it, I am now finally getting a red light although on their forums it says it's supposed to turn yellow after a short moment buuuuut it doesn't seem to be doing that unfortunately.. So I feel like I'm getting closer but not having too much luck sadly. If anyone has any more tips it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much everybody!
  Pinebook Pro w/ Manjaro KDE Random Freeze/Crash
Posted by: BenniTec - 03-17-2022, 01:15 PM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)
I"ve got issues with Manjaro KDE on the Pinebook Pro.
Sometimes when wanting to open a terminal from the task bar, it freezes and KDE Plasma freezes afterward,
and finally everything freezes.
So far, I've not tested any other OS except ArchLinux ARM (only for recovery).
I've got no clue why.
But I have to note that I have overclocked my Pinebook Pro quite a bit, but this issue even persists without an overclock.
For those interested in the arch/arm64/boot/dts/rockchip/rk3399-op1-opp.dtsi file:
  Dark Mode
Posted by: biketool - 03-17-2022, 06:20 AM - Forum: Mobian on PinePhone - Replies (3)
For current Mobian, what is the easiest way to change the system profile to a dark mode?  I am finally using my Pinephone as a daily driver, but after over 10 years running Maemo Linux on a N900 which ships with a dark mode system palette I am still shocked every time I open my phone at night and get blasted with light.
I would track this down but I assume such a popular problem has already been solved by many users.
  Unable to unlock after locking on phosh and plasma
Posted by: girl - 03-17-2022, 05:32 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - No Replies
Hey all I've been having an issue that makes using my new PPP pretty much impossible :'( every time the screen locks, automatically or manually, it can not be unlocked. I press the power button or tap the screen and nothing happens and I must manually reboot the phone only to be faced with the same problem again. And the phone is still on, as I can hear the up and down volume sounds the I press the volume buttons. Same results with u-boot, tow-boot, manjaro phosh, manjaro plasma and running the os from emmc or SD...
  Pine Phone Pro issues
Posted by: gmastap - 03-17-2022, 03:10 AM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (4)
Hello all,
I have bought a Pine Phone Pro and I am stuck from the beginning.
I updated the delivered manjaro to the latest version and played a bit and I am quite happy.
No w I was trying to install mobian to one of my SD cards but the only thing I get are read errors from the SD Cards slot as well as I/O Errors.
Okay, I spoke to the developers, go thre remark mayto change to two boots firmware.
Trying that getting everything ready on two different SD cards, Samsung and San Disk it also Failed to start with the RE button pressed as described.
Even booting into the working majaro gives me error when I try to write to the SD cards.
I have no further ideas anymore. Do you have any suggestion ?
  Modem unreliable on the PPP with Mobian
Posted by: EwigeBlumenkraft - 03-17-2022, 12:57 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (2)
I am using my Pinephone Pro EE since monday as a daily driver. Works good so far but since yesterday the modem began having hiccups.
Sometimes it shows no reception or the bar symbol is crossed out completely.
With mmcli I can see the modem in the first case but in the second it is not found.
I tried various combinations of mmcli scan and disable/enable with no result. Only restarting the phone works most of the time.
However when I restart the phone some settings (display zoom, input voltage from keyboard etc.) are gone.
Is there a reliable way to use modem manager to restore the connection?
  tow-boot: suspend stopped working
Posted by: maltee - 03-16-2022, 02:00 PM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Software - Replies (3)
Hi,
I installed tow-boot to SPI to get suspend working and it did work for a day or so - at least most of the time. And then it just didn't. I think I didn't even install any updates in between. At the same time I noticed that tow-boot seemed to get stuck every now and then. Sometimes before the second vibration, sometimes after the second vibration. Sometimes the operating system would get stuck as well, but once it finished booting there were no further problems. I tried re-installing tow-boot, no success. I also tried re-installing the operating system, again, no success.
I've tried to ask in the chat, but apparently nobody there knew anything.
Is there anything else I can try? I don't mind if the solution involves deleting everything, I'm only tinkering so far anyway.
I noticed that I have two boot (?) drives, mmcblk2boot0 and mmcblk2boot1. mmcblk2 is the emmc, but wiping doesn't get rid of the two boot drives. Should I wipe those?
Thanks,
Malte
  Writing to SD card possible with all applications?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 03-16-2022, 08:44 AM - Forum: PinePhone Software - Replies (5)
Android from about vers. 5.0 on does not allow to write to the external SD card for all applications. Is it possible to write to external SD card for instance with OpenOffice with the PinePhone (a reason to buy a PinePhone)?
