What OS have you recently flashed onto PBP eMMC? |

I hate to post this generic question.
I just got mine yesterday and it was running Manjaro KDE Plasma out of the box. I temporarily bricked my PBP trying to flash the generic Manjaro ARM Team image from here, using this process.
I think this borked my eMMC as I had troubles booting anything afterwards.
I was able to get something working using Kali/Armbian and now PostmarketOS. Kali didn't have WiFi, Armbian couldn't get past the initramfs/busy box (because laptop keyboard wouldn't work).
I'm using PostmarketOS now which I was able to write to the eMMC using their installer image/balena etcher and boot.
Issue is I don't really want to stick with Alpine just because of the package manager/issues... eg. I want VS Code.
I would like to get Manjaro back but I keep having problems trying to run it. I tried this one:
https://github.com/manjaro-arm/pbpro-images/releases
And while it boots, it goes into kernel panic (yellow/green power led flashing).
I also tried manjaro-arm-installer, I used my Pinephone Pro to write it onto SD card.
I went through the interactive guide, but in the end it also would not boot from SD card.
I wish Armbian worked with regard to wanting to use apt.

PinePhone carrier support in Hungary |

I could not get the PinePhone working with Yettel LTE network in Hungary.
The wiki says it is supported. (The entry was added by @dachalife.)
The modem connects to the cell towers (LTE), with good signal strength, and recognizes that it is on Yettel HU network. It also displays some information about the network.
The APN credentials in the Pine64 wiki are correct.
APN name: Yettel
APN address: online
The same information can be found at yettel.hu website. I also asked it personally, and online from the customer support, they said the same. The online customer support also said that the APN setting have to be IPv4 only. It wasn't mentioned by the other sources, so I don't know if it's up to date.
I tried the above settings, both with IPv4v6 and IPv4 bearer settings.
It always fails to connect, and it says “Error: unknown APN name”.
SMS sending works. I couldn't test calls as I have a data-only subscription.

need help with downgradin network-manager |

hey all,
I've got an issue, and thought I'd post here and see if anyone has any ideas on what to do
When I first got the pinephone (back in February of 2021) the network-manager was workin very well. I have a buildin that I'm in a lot, and the network-manager of that time got service in there (I'm guessing it was 1.29.90-2). after we went to 1.32 I haven't gotten service in that buildin sisnce.
I've been wantin to downgrade to network-manager 1.29.90-2, and decided to finally try it. so I downloaded it along with libmn0, and aptitude tells me that wpasupplicant will break if I downgrade. I won't have internet at all while switchin to the old network-manager, so I can't get apt to download something to fix wpasupplicant.
what should I do with this? do I need to download wpasupplicant beforehand? if so, which version worked with that older version of network-manager?
at first I tried to go to an older image and excluded network-manager from the updates (along with libmn0) but the phone has always seemed to struggle with huge updates like that (gets glitchy)
would appreciate any ideas!

Brand new Pinecil v2 won't boot on PD |

G'day folks. I was excited to receive the pinecil v2 (direct from main store) and it will start on a 5V source but I can't get it to start at all on higher voltage PD supplies.
I've got a pinecil v2 that I expect to support "USB type C: PD and QC 3.0 12V-20V 3A" running v2.18 (I can see a 2.19 but the changelog doesn't reference PD fixes)
The main one I expected it to work with is a Zendure Supertank which has USB C ports that supply 5V/9V/12V/15V/20V @3A (for 60W) or 20V @5A (for 100W) and works well with my laptop. I've also tried a Dell D6000 dociking station that supports PD up to 65W (5V/9V/15V@3A and 19.5V@3.25A). No sign of life from the pinecil on either.
I've tried using both the red usb-c cable I bought with the pinecil and an existing high quality one I bought for 100W PD charging of my laptop from the supertank.
I've tried changing the "PD Timeout" right up to 50.
Any suggestions on what I haven't tried? Maybe I've got a dud?
Thanks.
J.

With PostmarketOS v22.06 Plasma Mobile on PinePhone Pro I cannot recieve MMS; I assume this is expected for now ?
I have tried Manjaro Plasma Mobile, and MMS is working out, and I am able to receive images and so forth.

I have tried Manjaro Plasma Mobile, and MMS is working out, and I am able to receive images and so forth.
I did resolve the issue; after sending my self from another phone to Pinephone Pro an MMS, under Manjaro Plasma Mobile, and it was received with the image; rebooting the Pinephone Pro into PostmarketOS and trying the test once again, I did receive the MMS with the image.
I have seen this before with SailfishOS and Sony combo phones; where the SIM card has to receive (perhaps or to send) an MMS message successfully, before seeing the same results on the phone in question.
The SIM card also was newly deployed, never sent or received and MMS before PostmarketOS; and the first for it was the Manjaro Plasma Mobile (Same Phone on SD Card).
T-Mobile US MVNO, Red Pocket service.
Thanx

The webcam doesn't work in Firefox |

Hello
I've tried to use the webcam in Mozilla Firefox without success, it seems to be detected but it doesn't work even though I allow a website to use it. I can't open the console in Firefox, I can't get the logs. Am I missing something obvious? I'll try v4l2ucp, v4l2-ctrl and some other commands to try to understand what's wrong.

PostmarketOS v22.06 Plasma Mobile on PinePhone Pro & WiFi Connect to SSID |

On PostmarketOS v22.06 Plasma Mobile on PinePhone Pro, and when I reboot the phone, and then log in, the PinePhone Pro does not connect to a saved WiFi SSID.
I have to manually go to WiFi settings, and press on the saved network, and PinePhone Pro then will connect.
Where can I edit to change this behavior, and have PostmarketOS device connect to the WiFi automatically?
By the way, I am very glad and thankful that there is a FUNCTIONING PHONE OS out of the box, like PostmarketOS; It was an exodus from other OS distros, and a month of troubleshooting with Manjaro, to have the PinePhone Pro functioning like a phone. Thank you!

Survey on Pinecil Tips, Please fill out |

Please fill out this short Survey on Pinecil Tips and 4-packs.
- Due to the huge response to the reddit post about changing the Pinecil included default tip, a few of us made this Survey to gather community feedback. We want to give the Pine64 Store data so they know this is not the opinion of just a couple people, and to get a general idea of what works better for more people. There are many posts discussing the default included tip, but nothing to get the real numbers on which tip is the one everyone ends up buying and using daily with their Pinecil.
Maybe there will be no changes even after we present the survey results, but at least we will have the undeniable data on the Pinecil tips and can then ask the Pine Store to look at some options to make more people happier. It would be better to send out a tip that most people can use at least some of the time or most of the time so let's find out what that tip is.
Getting a tip that ends up sitting in a box unused for years is just more e-waste and not good for Pinecil reputation, not good for the earth, and not good for the wallet.
