  Through hole LEDs
Posted by: shiftlink - 07-14-2016, 05:23 AM - Forum: Pine A64 Hardware, Accessories and POT - Replies (5)

There are two unpopulated sets of vias for LED's on the board between the power switch and the IR socket.  I was just wondering if anyone knows what they are for.

  temporary enclosure with lcd
Posted by: jodybrown99 - 07-13-2016, 08:57 PM - Forum: Enclosures - Replies (2)

has anyone created a decent "enclosure" for their pine64 that includes the lcd?
what did you do?
how did you orient the PCB in regards to the panel, so that the cables reach nicely?
what was it made of?
did you get the camera in there somehow?
other addons?

i'm thinking about getting some lexan (i have a sheet around here somewhere) and try to put something together so that i can at least hold the thing like a tablet, until my actual enclosure arrives (via the original kickstarter).

  camera module and lcd integration

is the camera module supposed to fit into the slot in the lcd panel? it's a bit big, and does not fit. see picture.

Possible to use Google Chrome Browser?
Posted by: cantcode - 07-13-2016, 01:13 PM - Forum: Linux on Pine A64(+) - Replies (6)

Please forgive me as I have no experience with Linux.

I just got the Pine 64+ with 2GB. I selected the Android SD card via Kickstarter.

It works.. but there are some issues that I think others are having (Play Store doesn't work well, my mouse and keyboard work then stop working, etc.)

I loaded Ubuntu and when I tried downloading the Chrome browser, I got an error. It said 'wrong architecture'. I am guessing this is because Google makes their Linux version of Chrome for x86 type chips?? (again I am not very knowledgeable).

Is there any current Operating System for the Pine 64 that would allow me to use Google Chrome browser? I often use Firefox, but there are some things I need to do with Chrome (work related).

In the absence of this, I would have to use Android on the Pine64, but would need to permanently set my user agent as "Desktop", which I *think* requires root access??

Also, in the Wiki Download page, what is the difference in the RemixOS that say they are for different SD card sizes? (like one is for 8GB SD card, then 16GB card, then 32GB then 64GB?)

Again, thank you for your help. I am sure these are simple questions for most people!

  USB webcam support
Posted by: mikey0000 - 07-13-2016, 12:06 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (5)

Hey this is a bit of a feature request.

It would be great if we can get usb webcams/mics to behave like a default front facing camera so things like skype will work and voice control

I have a C615 logitech I got specifically to use with my pine.

adb and APP development on Android

I have my pine 64+ up with Andorid 5.1.1, and I want to make my PINE 64 send UART signals with Android,
but I cannot let my computer communicate to PINE 64 when I connect them with micro USB
Does anyone have the experience of developing UART apps and using ADB on PINE 64 ?

  My Hacky ethernet fix
Posted by: anarchyuk - 07-13-2016, 02:51 AM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (21)

This worked for me, I cant guarantee it will work for anyone else's issue but if you have a spare ethernet cable abut then it cant do any harm.

I haven't been able to use my Ethernet properly since getting the board, I found a work around where I route it through to 100mbit power line adapters and the 100mbit ports get it working but soon as I plug it in to my gigabit router it stops. I cant change the ports to fast Ethernet 100mbit either, but this isnt ideal so i found a better solution.....

My solution is to mod the ethernet cable which works perfectly, I used a standard cat5 straight through cable

Opened it up and cut all of the blue and brown wires, so thats 4,5,7 and 8 secure the wire with electrical table and you're sorted, this will be in 100mbit mode and once a fix comes out you will be able to solder the wires or use another cable to use gigabit again.

Information Audio Passthrough in SPMC Working
Posted by: czechr08 - 07-12-2016, 11:21 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (8)

While I could not get Kodi to correctly reproduce AC3 audio via pass-through (cuts out for a fraction of a second every 5-10 seconds or so), I have been able to achieve correct AC3 audio reproduction with SPMC.  Playback of recorded mpeg-ts files has been great with no video sync issues or audio issues.  However, I am not getting great playback of live TV (via HDHomerun via tvheadend on an Odroid C1+).  I will need to explore that more, but more than likely it is related to my network/NAS setup.  The best playback experience of NAS mpeg-ts files has been through using Plex / MX player mashup.

My current settings / setup for SPMC is listed out below:

  • Android: 5.1.1 HDMI image release 20160505 64gb version non-rooted
  • SPMC build: SPMC 16.3-0 Git:2016-04-30-22df3d0-dirty
  • CAT 6 cables between as many devices as possible: Pine64 and Fast Ethernet (100/10) Switch which is then connected to my router (not sure if this made a difference as I did not methodically test it, but before CAT 6 I had lesser cables between some of these devices and I know at that time SPMC was not working correctly either)
  • HDMI from Pine64 to Marantz Receiver
SPMC Options:
Videos:
     Playback:
Adjust display refresh rate: On start / stop
         Sync playback to display: Off
     Acceleration:
         Allow hardware acceleration -MediaCodec

System:
     Audio output:
Audio output device: Android, RAW Passthrough
         Number of channels: 7.1
         Output Configuration: Fixed
         Limit sampling rate (kHz): 48.0
         Stereo upmix: On
Maintain original volume on downmix: On
         Resample quality: High
         Enable audio DSP processing: Off

Hopefully someone can build off of this and continue to improve the Pine64 media experience.
