Question Updating Android version
Posted by: symbiatch - 12-01-2016, 02:04 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (1)

I tried searching, but couldn't find anything about how to update the Android version on the device. I assume we're not supposed to reflash the card and lose all the data on it and start fresh? What's the procedure?

I'm especially interested in the 7.0 versions.

Tomcat 7 and Guacamole - on Pine and Armbian
Posted by: UnixOutlaw - 11-30-2016, 08:22 PM - Forum: Armbian - Replies (2)

Well - I tried to run Apache guacamole Java applet / servlet on an NTC CHIP - gave up...

Tried it on Armbian on BananaPI - it was better - but still a bit sluggish at times.

I'm now running it on one of my Pine boards (PineA64+ 2GB) running "latest" Armbian Jessie Legacy...

It's really snappy!   I've got port forwarding from the interwebs - and I can use guacamole to get an SSH session for all the nodes I've configured using it's XML configuration file...  It will even do RDP and VNC, I've tested RDP (using XRDP) to one of my nodes - it's not really practicable over the interwebs - but nice and quick on the same LAN....

And - 2 GB board seems wasted (not even gone above 1 GB usage) - which suggests to me - those 4 cores make all the difference - and perhaps 64 bit?

I did try to run it on an RPi 3b - running Raspbian - but too many dependancies during the install so gave up.

It was really simple to get going - and I think I'll leave that PineA64+ 2GB board doing just that...   Just about given up using either of my boards for a desktop workload - mainly because of the lousy software support from the board vendor...   Got an OPi+ 2E and running Armbian with XFCE makes a much better desktop than Pine - just a shame the OPi+ doesn't have battery support (however battery support on Pine has be less than spectacular for me anyway).

Also - can report - iperf3 is reporting me getting close to 1000 mbit under Armbian!

Thanks to Igor and TKaiser for an AWESOME Linux platform to run on Arm SBCs!

  What Ubuntu image for GUI?
Posted by: howardsternisbatman - 11-30-2016, 11:54 AM - Forum: Ubuntu - Replies (2)

Hi

I've spent a considerable amount of (wasted) time already trying to get a gui up and running on my 2GB Pine.

This thread seems to just deteriorate from it working to 'well I guess it doesn't work anymore'.  Isn't there a working Ubuntu GUI image available for download?

thanks,

  Litium battery outside the USA?

How can (or where can) we in Europe buy a similar Li-Po battery as the one you sell from your store? All the stuff I have ordered so far, are delivered directly from China, so why only US?

  Gambas3 installation on Debian image
Posted by: linusky - 11-29-2016, 11:10 AM - Forum: Debian - No Replies

Hello,

I'm develop for a long time with Gambas language and I would use it on the Pine64 but the available version is an older version of Gambas3.

I've tried to compile Gambas3 from the SVN source but due to a lot of backport package installed into the Debian image I'm not able to install the DEV corresponding package as libglibc.

Does someone can help me or have an idea to install DEV packages for backport already installed packages please.

If you need more explanations or command return log, ask me.

Olivier

  Linux laptop
Posted by: rusty377 - 11-27-2016, 07:23 PM - Forum: Getting Started - Replies (2)

I heard that there will be a linux 14 inch laptop with 10AH battery-but I dont see anything on this site about it. Can someone enlighten me to what is the story. Price point was $89 to $99 per unit.

More info:
PineBook is a low-cost Linux machine that looks like MacBook Air. PineBook supports a number of Linux distros and Android versions. Macbook Air looks great! However, you can now enjoy MacBook air at just $89 because Pine64 launched a single-board computer which is named as PineBook. If you are looking for an Affordable Linux laptop then you will find Pinebook Linux laptop helpful. PineBook uses the same ARM-based CPU that is found on the single board computer Pine 64. The laptop is lightweight and comes with a full-size keyboard and large multi-touch touchpad for students and makers. Meet Pinebook, A $89 Linux Laptop That Looks Like MacBook The laptop is available in 2 variants 11 inch LCD and 14 inch LCD the 11inch will cost you US $89 and 14-inch model will cost you US $99. The laptop had a mini HDMI port so that users can connect larger external HDMI display or TV for presentations. This laptop even had a built-in MicroSD card slot that will allow users to expand their data storage,etc....

  Best Video Player for Android

I am not 100% sure if question was already raised.  What video player do you use with Android?  Kodi is working well and the video player from 5.1.1 releases is also okay. Any other player?

With MX player I do not have sound...

Android 6.0 Tablet and TV (release candidate, maintained)
Posted by: ayufan - 11-26-2016, 03:15 AM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (228)

Based on my work for Android 7.0 (http://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=2136) I did downgrade to 6.0.

Download: https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/android-6.0/releases

It takes about 10 minutes for first boot to finish.

Report all issues here: https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/android-6.0/issues

What does work?

It seems to work nicely and be more responsive then 7.0 build.

Widevine DRM L3 does work, so you should be able to use Netflix.

It also allows you to update SuperSU binary, so rooting is OK too.

What does not?

- So far it seems to be OK.

This is alpha build, so do not complain Smile

If something doesn't work:
- try to see logs (adb logcat, adb shell dmesg),
- try to compile and fix it by yourself,
- when you find solution create a Pull Request for one of this repositories: https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/

How to compile?

https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/local_m...arshmallow

You can also see my Jenkins compilation script:
https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/android...enkinsfile

Download:

https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/android-6.0/releases

Install:

The builds are designed to be used with Pine A64 1GB or 2GB on at least 4GB sdcard.

Use Etcher to write images: https://www.etcher.io/

The build automatically resize data partition on first boot to use sdcard space.

LCD:

To enable LCD, edit uEnv.txt from BOOT partition and uncomment:

Code:
pine64_lcd=on

HDMI resolution:

Edit uEnv.txt and select one. You can find all supported in uEnv.txt:

Code:
disp_mode=1080p60

Ethernet speed:

Edit uEnv.txt and select desired speed, by default it uses auto-negotiation.
For example to limit to 100Mbps:

Code:
eth0_speed=100

Google Apps:

Android Regular and TV already has Google Apps installed.
