  rock64 ethernet port sticker
Posted by: dkryder - 11-09-2017, 12:23 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (1)

i've noticed in pictures and videos of the rock64 board that the ethernet port component  sometimes has a circular sticker on the top and it is either white, blue, or red. there are also some boards with no sticker. i was wondering if that was a code for the ram size or quality control or something. anyone know what they mean?

[SOLVED] Boot from SD works, no boot with eMMC
Posted by: gkkpch - 11-07-2017, 10:18 AM - Forum: Linux on PINE A64-LTS / SOPINE - Replies (4)

[EDIT] It seems I got my post mixed up, so from the beginning:

I try to get Volumio running an a SOPINE but only managed with an SD card.
I know that boot0 has to be swapped for boot0so and uboot with a new version with the sopine device tree.
For the SD card that seems ok, but eMMC won't boot.
Then I tried a community ubuntu image and get this:

Code:

Testing with a Volumio image and eMMC makes a slight difference, it seems to initialise but still fails

U-Boot 2014.07-g6f37e5c (Jun 27 2017 - 10:50:26) Allwinner Technology

etc........

Anyone any idea??

I forgot to add: I flash the eMMC using an adapter from Hardkernel, same one I successfully use for Rock64.
The eMMC is a Foresee 16GB module from the shop, tried a second one too, both work ok with rock64.

  Build Image for Remix Mini
Posted by: kgoosie - 11-07-2017, 07:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Jide decided to stop supporting the Remix Mini and Remix OS to focus on the commercial market. However, there are a lot of users who still own a Remix Mini, like myself (two actually), but I would like to run different OS builds. I've looked into the CPU and it the H64 which is an A64 with a few upgrades. The WiFi chip and the Power Management modules are the same. So, is there anyone who may be able to build a bootable SD Card image for it? It currently boots off of the eMMC module. I would be happy to do some testing with it. Or if someone could point me in a very good direction on building one myself.

  Android 7.1 reboot on Pine64 2GB
Posted by: rkbren81@gmail.com - 11-06-2017, 06:49 PM - Forum: Android on Pine A64(+) - Replies (2)

Apparently this is a well-kept, widely-known secret that I managed to find quite by accident: When Android 7.1 (Android 7.1 Community Image [v0.3.10-r66]) boots the first time it will ask you to update the superuser apps binary. DO NOT DO THIS. If you do update the binary, the board will NOT boot again. It will sit at the "bouncing balls" splash screen forever! The superuser app CAN be updated in the Play Store without a problem. Why this information is nowhere to be found on the downloads page is beyond me.

  Full Disk Encryption
Posted by: archangel - 11-05-2017, 05:59 PM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (3)

Hi,

I intend to use the Rock64 as a multi-purpose server handling VPN, LDAP authentication, internal DNS, etc. and I'd really like to LUKS encrypt the emmc. I'm familiar with the process using Grub2 as a boot loader but U-Boot is throwing me some curves.

Has anyone undertaken a project like this?

pinebook onboard bluetooth adaptor not found at all
Posted by: dkebler - 11-05-2017, 10:16 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinebook - Replies (1)

First off the onboard adaptor was working fine but now....

After swapping in a new emmc 64gb and loading in the latest release image of mate from here
https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/linux-build/releases

The bluetooth adaptor is not being fired up let alone found and I can't "see" it anywhere in /dev

I did put in a usb BT adaptor I have and it is discovered and connected but the onboard BT adaptor is AWOL.

Is this a kernal driver issue or other lower level issue?    I suppose there is an outside chance I buggered it when replacing the emmc.

So given that the usb BT works fine it's not BT software.

bluetoothctl does not even show the adaptor present.

Some advice please on how to track this down

If the on board bt is run through the usb bus I don't see it there.
Is this a "bug" in trying to run this latest image??

I just want to share my experiences with Docker on Rock64.

I'm running DietPi on Rock64, so I've build Docker aarch64:

  Rock64 / OMV / Docker
Posted by: jata - 11-03-2017, 05:50 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I have a rock64 ordered and I'm waiting for delivery... Looking forward to getting involved with this community.

My current setup is a Mac mini running plex server with a raspberry pi with OMV. I use the RPi for tinkering and a download/file/VPN server.

I'm planning a similar setup when I get the rock64 but I also wanted to see how well it works as a plex / media server. I'm thinking about using docker to run all of the media server related stuff in containers.

As I will be using OMV, I was hoping I could setup docker within OMV on the rock64 and then configure the media server in docker containers.

Possible? good idea? other suggestions?
