bootloader cmdline for non crazy eth names
Posted by: stuartiannaylor - 10-10-2017, 12:12 AM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - No Replies

Presume its in the bootloader but if I post

Code:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0"
Could we have that at one stage to get some sanity with the eth name such as eth0, eth1... wlan1...

I just created a persistent rule.

nano /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:e0:4c:53:44:58", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth1"

If any one else wants the same just change the mac address to your adapter

If the bootloader passes the first then we should get sane names automatically.

My eth1 was enx00e04c534458 and its not easy to remember Smile

  Pine64 + LCD + Volumio
Posted by: kodachrome - 10-09-2017, 10:24 AM - Forum: LCD and Touch Panel - Replies (12)

Hi All,

Got one of the original Kickstarter Pine64 Plus models with the LCD output. Can I use the LCD touchscreen on the site:
https://www.pine64.org/?product=7-lcd-to...reen-panel

With Volumio OS and make a cool standalone Spotify player?

Im aware there was some early Linux support issues.. that all taken care of now?

  Rock64 netbook?
Posted by: jhip626 - 10-09-2017, 06:45 AM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (1)

Has anyone tried to make a netbook out of a rock64 yet? I'd like to get the 4gb version and give it a try, mostly for learning python, and make it small and very portable, as most laptops are just too hefty to carry around everywhere.

Would it run a regular Linux distro? Would you be able to install regular Linux programs?
Sorry for the noob questions, but you gotta start somewhere.

Seems like this forum doesn't get many posters. Almost getting like a ghost town . Tbh it makes me not want to buy one for fear of lack of support.

  Using Rock64 as a firewall
Posted by: jl_678 - 10-08-2017, 12:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCK64 - Replies (6)

Hi,

I am pondering this and am wondering if anyone has tried any of the dedicated offrngs on a Rock64. Both ClearOS and IPFire have Arm builds, but I have no idea if they work with the R64. Has anyone tried those out or any similar offerings?

Thank you in advance.

  Rock64 as a firewall - usb3 gigE adopters
Posted by: jl_678 - 10-08-2017, 08:29 AM - Forum: Linux on Rock64 - Replies (2)

Hi,

I am considering setting up my rock 64 as a firewall using IPFire which will require another Ethernet port. There are many usb3 to Ethernet adapters and I am not sure if they are compatible. Here are a couple of options:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Portable-Et...t+ethernet

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000...t+ethernet

This brings me to my questions.

1. Has anyone successfully tested using a usb3 gigE adapter on Ayufun's latest Debian release?
2. If yes, is there a specific version that is needed for compatibility purposes?
3. Do we think that either of the ones linked above will work? If not is there an alternate that you would suggest?

Thank you

  My PINE64A won't boot
Posted by: cori - 10-07-2017, 12:32 PM - Forum: Getting Started - No Replies

Just got a PINE64A 2G and weird enough is a Rev. B board made on 2016-03-21 Sad . I thought Rev. C was out  anyway, I wanted to have the openHAB running on this SBC.

Tried booting openhabianpine64-xenial-201706161506-git7ff273e-crcadda6dbb.img with Ethernet and without no difference the boot process freezes

Have a PSU that provides 5.2V and a Class 10 microSD card... Not sure what else I'm missing.

Any relevant hint is much appreciated.
