Pinebook Pro Update |

Can Pine provide new--as of 1 April--information as to the status of the Pinebook Pro?
Hardware, software, ordering information...anything?
I am--as I'm certain a LOT of people are--intensely interested in this device, and would like to get in the ordering queue as soon as possible.
Periodic (monthly, or more frequent) updates via 'pine64.org' "major topic' would be outstanding.

Hi,
I don't have enough experience on linux base operating systems. Before I buy Rock64, I thought if I have a linux base operating system I can access to all linux programs. That was good if I could use this low consumption single board computer as a video converter. But when I load lxde bionic I figured out there is no software center. So I tried to install via command line but no success. After a few try I managed to install it with flatpak and all dependencies was installed successfully. Despite of all, it wasn't run. I think it is because of CPU architecture but after a few searches I found this thread:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt...5&start=50
Can any body explain to me can I use Hand brake on Rock64 or not?

Greetings,
I've got a USB/SDHC e/w a SanDisk 32Gb and it auto-mounts
as read-only every time it's installed.
The adapter mounts fine as read/write in my Odroid XU4 and
Raspi 3B.
SBC: RockPro64 4Gb
OS: Debian Stretch w/Mate' DE (Kudos to @MrFixIt and team for a great OS build!)
Any suggestions?
TIA,
/Faradn

ROCK64 RK3328 state of 4K (and FHD) video playback in FBdev |

Hi,
First post.
We are evaluating batch of ROCK64 boards for a project where 4K video playback is a must. FHD naturally too.
The SBCs only duty will be to loop one video (apart from taking some network signals and reacting to GPIO in a separate daemon).
What is the current state of smooth video playback on ROCK64 (RK3328) boards on FBdev (thus: boot -> directly to terminal -> video starts). X11 is unnecessary overhead and layer to manage (but needed in ROCK64 case?)
Presumably H.265 for 4K, but as compressed size is not an issue H.264 will do. Audio out through HDMI. eMMC not SD card.
I've found https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=7056, https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=424, but these discussions are for ROCKPRO64 or A64.
Titles such as Was 4K a Lie? and answers there by moderators (be patient; hardware supports, but...) are worrisome (different board but still), given that this board is advertised with 4K60P written in bold.
Thanks!

Mediatek socs with cellular |

Instead of use a cellular module for your pine phone, why dont you mainline a mediatek soc to use it in a board ?
Its not only much better for your project (for sizes and efficency), but it would also be very usefull because mediatek is used in a lot of smartphones today.

Pine64 NAS fan problems |

Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and hope you guys can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I bought some parts from the Pine64 shop:
- ROCKPro64 4GB Single Board Computer
- Fan for ROCKPro64 Metal Desktop/NAS casing
- ROCKPro64 Metal Desktop/NAS Casing
- ROCKPro64 12V 5A EU POWER SUPPLY
- ROCKPro64 PCI-e to Dual SATA-II Interface Card
- ROCKPro64 20mm Mid Profile Heatsink
I got it all set up pretty quickly thanks to this well done guide here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UeeklKo0Og
my only issue is, that the fan won't start spinning when the RockPro boots and I can't figure out why.
Sorry for the Imgur link but the three pictures are too big for the allowed 2.93mb

Although I don't think so and the slot says "FAN" right next to it did I plug the fan into the wrong slot?
Any help would be much appreciated

Plex update on rock64 |

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to these so I appreciate all help I can get. I set up my rock64 as a Plex server but am having trouble updating the Plex version to 1.15 from 1.9. Plex runs but my Roku can't connect to it on that older version and tells me to update it. The update is manual and gives me this link to update it:
https://plex.tv/downloads/latest/1?chann...d4iHzXJueF
I've tried throwing a wget in front of that but it fails. I've tried going to the Plex downloads site for Linux distributions and grabbing them with wget, then using sudo dpkg -i to install but they all fail.
I have only ssh access to this little guy so any thoughts or tips would be amazing.
I followed this guide to get it set up:

Armbian still has not released a new image (even though they've had the fix for over a week now) and I was thinking about maintaining my own distro based on Alpine Linux. It seems to be geared towards lightweight server style hardware. Anyone use something else that is well maintained? Anyone have experience porting it? I saw some threads for other Pine64 products but nothing in Sopine.
(here is their about page in case you've never heard of that distro)
