Hello forum-members,
I'm trying to get my bluetooth sound working on my Q4OS sd-card boot. In the standard KDE Neon image this works, but not on my new love Q4OS it doesn't work....
I am connected:
[Crosley CR8005]# devices
Device 30:21:10:2D:28:22 Crosley CR8005
Device FF:09 2:62:99:F8 N08CS
[Crosley CR8005]# connect 30:21:10:2D:28:22
Attempting to connect to 30:21:10:2D:28:22
[CHG] Device 30:21:10:2D:28:22 ServicesResolved: yes
Connection successful
[Crosley CR8005]#
But when I play music the sound is coming from the pinebook speakers....
Anyone an idea how to fix this?

Hi
Im new to with the system. I bought it two years ago but I was not able to use it before hehe
I want to use the Pine A64(+) to read several sensors, which are compatible with Arduino. I have two questions:
1) If I need to use the touch screen, that apparently only runs with Android 6.0.1, is there a way to also make use of the GPIO??
2) Are there libraries to use different sensors with those pins? or examples? I'm planing to use several sensors that work with analog outputs and I2C and SPI so I was wondering if there are info about that
Thanks!

I have an 11" PineBook which identifies itself as:
Code: $ uname -a
Linux pinebook 3.10.105-bsp-1.2-ayufan-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 3 12:48:42 MYT 2017 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux
The desktop is linux mint.
The problem is, no matter how much I struggle, I'm unable to obtain an image from a project connected to the mini HDMI port. I even installed a package called disper, bit with disper -l it does not recognize any other screen apart from the laptop's monitor itself.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance,
-- Baltasar

| Replace/Upgrade trackpad |

I was just playing around with my new Pinebook this morning, mistakenly trying to use the trackpad like my MBP's. After a while, a previous post of Luke's promoting the option to crack these puppers open and modify, repair, etc as we please. Naturally, that led me to start thinking about using a different trackpad, potentially with multi touch/gestures capability.
Admittedly, I know only so much concerning laptop hardware, so I figured it might be worth asking some of the questions here in addition to searching for them.
Primarily, I'm wondering if trackpads use standardized ribbon cables/connectors, and if not, what type does the Pinebook use? Does the PB trackpad mount differently to others? There are certainly more questions, such as sourcing a similarly sized trackpad to the Pinebook (I initially thought of the MBA trackpad, but the shape looks wider and I'm unsure of mounting for MBA or PB) but I think finding the right replacement would be heavily reliant on the connectors and mounting so that can wait.
If there's anything I haven't observed but you have, let me know! I haven't cracked my PB open yet, as I'm still in the midst of software setup, but this idea seemed interesting and I thought others may have shared a similar thought or take interest in it, too.

Hello everyone, I've been building a custom fight stick for a project at my university and I've used Pine64 to program certain things in it. However Im thinking to make it like one of the popular fight sticks, what are the popular ones? I have a budget of 1500$ for it, the university funded me for the project, these look fine https://appuals.com/best-fight-sticks/ in my opinion, what do you suggest? also how can I work on Linux with pine64? Thanks!

Hello all!
I'm a newcomer to the world of SBC's and got my 4-GB Rock64 delivered yesterday, so of course I've been spending most of today fidgeting and trying to get it to boot properly. I'm writing here because while I've gotten it booted up 'n running, I still feel like the performance is very underwhelming. I have a sneaking suspicion it's because I've done something wrong but am not sure where to go from here.
I got this board specifically because of it's price-to-performance ratio, I'm looking to set this up as a minecraft server machine for my friends and after some quick searching on speccs and seeing others doing the same with their pine64 boards I thought it'd be the best option for the price.
I'm running the OS on a flashed 128GB, UHS-1 SanDisk ((still Very new to SBC so this felt like the less daunting option vs eMMc)) which I accidentally first flashed a RockPro64 image on and then emptied by formatting it back, using the SD Association's SDFormatter. It's now flashed through the Pine64 Installer with the Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic image (build 0.7.9-1067) which booted up no problem first try! Might also be worth noting I have VERY little experience working with linux, I've only ever owned windows machines but I've messed with ubuntu machines a bit in some programming courses so it's better than the 0 experience I have with any of the other options in the installer.
I also managed to set up a SSH-server on it and remotely installed the default JDK 11.0 kit, and a minecraft server by using PuTTY and psftp. which I could not get to run smoothely or anywhere near acceptable speeds. I delegated a minimum of 2GB memory for it to use but it never used more than .6-1.3 MB, and ended up stuttering and having delays of 2-5 seconds!
I guess my question is: Am I doing something wrong, and if so does anyone have any pointers? (maybe it's because of how I handled the SD card or maybe the fact I used a SD card to begin with? is there a better OS-image to use for this purpose?) or is this just not something that the Rock64 is capable of dealing with?

| OS recommendation for pinebook? |

Hi,
I just received my new pinebook (it is a "1080P Pinebook"), and I am trying to setup an usable OS...
The OS that comes pre-installed on the pinebook (KDE plasma something) does not seem to be too usable (the graphical interface is soooo slow... When I click something with the mouse, the corresponding window needs some seconds to open --- does this "KDE plasma" use the GPU?).
So, I am wondering if anyone has any advice on better distributions to install (I plan to use the pinebook for presenting some slides and reading emails, so I need a working graphical interface, a working HDMI output, and working network). Or some configuration I can use to make the pre-installed KDE plasma faster...
What do people generally use?
Before asking, I tried some options, but I had no luck:
1) I see that when I login I can select a KDE plasma session based on wayland... I tried it, and the system froze (I had to reboot)
2) I see that this KDE plasma is really a modified version of ubuntu, so I tried "sudo apt-get install xfce4" and I started an xfce session... This is much faster (really usable, I'd say), but I lost the network connection (looks like the xfce session is not starting network-manager, or whatever is needed to connect to wifi). I tried to install wicd, but it is not able to connect to the network.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Luca

I'm having regular problems netbooting my Rock64 with U-Boot 2017.09-rockchip-ayufan-1035-gd646df03ac (Oct 26 2018 - 08:36:01 +0000)
The symptoms reflecting the problem are that the LED state on the Rock64 RJ45 is wrong (either the green LED or the orange LED is on but not both) and both the U-Boot console and the switch at the other end of the cable[1] indicate GigE/FDX but the TFTP client reports checksum errors and eventually gives up.
This seems to be solely related to the firmware autonegotiation - once the kernel starts, it's rock solid at 1000/FDX. It also gets less reliable as the ambient temperature drops[2]. Whilst the above firmware isn't the latest, the changelogs for the later versions appear solely related to supporting the RK3399.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Whilst investigating the problem, I discovered that there's a Rock64 v3 and my board is v2.0. According to ROCK64 SBC v3.0 Change Notice, one change is "Improved transmission packet loss on gigabit Ethernet by adjusting LED0/CFG_EXT and LED2/CFG_LDO1 pull up resistor connect to 3.3V instead of 1.8V." This sounds similar enough to my problem that I thought it was worth looking into. Comparing the v2 and v3 schematics, the only relevant difference is that on v2, R3331 is absent and R3332 is present, whilst on v3, R3331 is present and R3332 is absent. VCCIO_PHY is connected to VCC_IO (3.3V via R3352) in both variants. Based on that, it should be possible to implement that fix on a v2 board by moving R3332 to R3331. Whilst there's no publicly available component overlay for the v2 board, the v3 component overlay in that area agrees with the results of my buzzing out that part of the schematic. Has anyone tried making this mod on a v2 board?
[1] I've tried both a NetGear GigE switch and a spare GigE port on my main server with the same behaviour.
[2] Warming the board with my wife's hairdryer will "fix" the problem.
