SFOS 4.5.0.19 improved call audio and camera
Posted by: defactofactotum - 08-30-2023, 01:59 AM - Forum: SailfishOS on PinePhone - Replies (1)

Recent developments: call audio dramatically improved, perfectly acceptable quality.

Shutter camera is back working and work has started on getting the front camera too. At present the viewfinder only works correctly in landscape mode, so turn off orientation lock.

What's not working: wifi sometimes fails to reconnect after a period of sleep; the top bar icon remains lit but under developer tools you can see the IP address is no longer listed. Just toggle the top bar icon off and on again.

The flash-it script installs sfos 4.5.0.19 download here https://github.com/sailfish-on-dontbeevi...lash-it.sh (click download icon).

You need tow-boot installed on emmc, if you don't already have it read this: https://tow-boot.org/devices/pine64-pinephoneA64.html Go to releases and find the file for PP or PPP under Assets. It's a tar.xz so you need to extract the image first.

  Pinetab2 screen removal
Posted by: Corconegre - 08-29-2023, 05:16 AM - Forum: PineTab Hardware - Replies (5)

Hi,
has anyone successfully opened the pinetab2 to remove the screen?

I did receive some videos/pictures from support but i can't even slide my nails on the separation, tried with a guitar pick and even a plastic piece slimmer than that.
How did you do this?
Everything i have seen shows the screen already out of the case and then they slide something to finish opening it, but i'm not sure how to take it out in the first place...

If anyone has done this before i would appreciate any advice, would like to avoid breaking the screen...

Thanks

No Shipping Methods for the Ukraine
Posted by: fender_hm - 08-29-2023, 03:13 AM - Forum: General Discussion on Pinecil - Replies (2)

Hello,

I'm trying to buy pencil, but when I make an order, there is info that there are no shipping methods available. I made a ticket at https://pine64.zohodesk.com/portal/en/home 5 days ago, but there is no any answer. Is it possible to but pencil with shipping to Ukraine?

Is the pine phone usable as a daily driver now?
Posted by: gautamb11 - 08-29-2023, 12:12 AM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (18)

I’m an astronomer & I use Linux as my primary OS on my laptop. I’ve been looking to move to linux bases phone (but not android).
Is the pine phone usable / comparable to an iPhone now (maybe not image quality), but for msging, video calls, internet and basic social media apps?
Are there any clips of people using them with a docking station?

How to write the the external SD card with Abword?
Posted by: Peter Gamma - 08-27-2023, 01:10 AM - Forum: PostmarketOS on PinePhone - No Replies

I have listed here problems with Abiword on the Pinephone which make it impossible to use Abiword with postmarkedOS stable:

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18639

https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=18638

The only option left here is to change the distro from postmarkedOS stable to Postmarket OS Phosh Edge, which is a lot of work. But why can I not write a file to the exernal SD card with Abiword? I can save a file to the internal SD card with Abiword, but not to to the exernal SD card. Is there a way to do it or is it an issue that Abiword cannot do this?

  drivers present, module missing [mt7921u]
Posted by: Ome Ko - 08-26-2023, 12:30 PM - Forum: PineTab Software - Replies (1)

Hi all,

Today my Comfast CF-9534X wifi adapter arrived and I followed these instructions for hotplugging it. The (kernel)drivers for the mt7921u chipset are where they should be; the adapter is recognised according to the lsusb command, but a modprobe mt7921u gives a FATAL result: Module mt7921u not found in directory /lib/modules/6.4.8-danctnix1-1-pinetab2.

Any of you happened to have a mt7921u.ko file on your 1-1kernel pinetab2 that I could borrow? Or is it just not in the image?

TIA!
