  any chance to use both USB ports in host-mode?
Posted by: lllll - 09-16-2023, 10:02 AM - Forum: PineTab Hardware - Replies (5)

Hi,

I have the following problem:

  • I want to use my bluetooth keyboard
  • I want to use WiFi
  • I bought a 2-in-1 Bluetooth-WiFi-USB-Adapter. WiFi works, but bluetooth does not with my keyboard
  • I have a Bluetooth-USB-Adapter which works with my keyboard
  • Only the upper USB port is working in host-mode (from my understanding), so I can only use one adapter at the same time

Is it somehow possible to use both?

  Does Pinecil v1 support hakko T12 style tip?
Posted by: xsetiadi - 09-15-2023, 06:48 AM - Forum: Pinecil Hardware and Accessories - Replies (1)

Im just read IronOs github. And see about tip sense. That mention some soldering iron that support tip sense also compatible with hakko T12 style tip.

Does the old pinecil V1 also support to use Hakko T12 style tip?

  SATA hotplug not working?
Posted by: JPT223 - 09-15-2023, 04:20 AM - Forum: RockPro64 Hardware and Accessories - No Replies

Hi,

I set up a NAS but I realized SATA hot plug is not working.
Is it a limitation of my SATA adapter or doesn't it work in general?

Looks like I got a ASM1166 chip, but this is odd because the chip got 6 SATA lines but my card has 8 sockets.

this adapter is not optimal because it uses only 2 PCIe-Lanes.
I probably should by a new one. it was cheap, though Wink

thanks
JPT

  update has broken angelfish browser?
Posted by: john_s4 - 09-14-2023, 05:31 PM - Forum: PineTab Software - Replies (10)

Hi everyone,

pinetab v2 largely as supplied with only reported available updates added.

Pinetab v2 reported updates available, so I allowed update to occur. However angelfish would not start and failed with no issues identified - even from command line it would not start, but at least the command line let me see an error - 'error while loading shared libraries: libQCoro5Quick.so.0'

Being a newbie to arch linux I have no idea how I could resolve this, and it is a real pain not having a browser to look while on the system to find a solution. On a different systems browser I saw a few attempts to fix similar library issues - but most were decried as unstable and unsuitable hacks.

Does anyone know of a suitable fix to make the library available, or where best to report the issue so the angelfish devs can issue an updated version.

Would appreciate a local quick fix if possible even if only to suggest a suitable different compatible browser install if need be while waiting for further updates. Pointers to relevant bug reports also welcome.

Thanks.

John

  Ubuntu touch rotation
Posted by: GloriousCoffee - 09-13-2023, 02:23 PM - Forum: PineTab Software - Replies (3)

Hi

Rotation on Ubuntu Touch doesn't seem to work properly on the PineTab2 (only runs in portrait when logged in).

Doesn't seem to be any settings to rotate the screen to landscape manually and my attempts to change it in configs didn't take effect. Don't know if I'm doing anything wrong, or I'm editing the wrong config files. Read it should be possible to change rotation with xrandr, but that isn't installed. Not sure what Touch uses for handling this.

Have anyone here solved this? I'd be happy to run it in landscape mode permanently. Don't need auto-rotation.

  OpenCL through ARM's Official Mali Kernel Driver
Posted by: pvelesko - 09-13-2023, 02:09 AM - Forum: Linux on Quartz64 - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I am trying to install the official ARM Mali GPU driver from here: https://developer.arm.com/downloads/-/ma...ost-kernel

The intention is to run an OpenCL benchmark on Mali-G52.

I disabled the panfrost driver, build the ARM driver, however, I run into the following error. I've seen references to `dev_pm_opp_set_regulators: no regulator (shadercores) found: -19` elsewhere but no idea how to actually fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

```
  MMS message being displayed delayed
Posted by: car46999 - 09-12-2023, 10:42 PM - Forum: General Discussion on PinePhone - Replies (4)
Behavior is that SMS works great, when the phone is in suspend it shows I get a message and I can go see that message. No SMS issues.
In a MMS (group text) pretty much all the time as best as I can tell (very easy to reproduce/test), the following happens:
If the phone is in suspend it wakes, but no message is shown in the notification area of the locked screen. No message is in chatty.
If the phone is un-locked the back light dims when the message is "received". No message is in chatty.
The message will seemingly show up at a random time, and often multiple messages come in at the same time. Often out of order but with the correct time of receipt.
If I kill mmsdtng and run it in a terminal, when a message is received there are 8 lines of text that describes the message (Body length, MMS transaction ID, MMS version, etc).
Then an error "Failed to get data (http status =404),
error "POST m.notify.resp.ind failed with a status 404,
These two errors repeat several times
and error g_uri_parse: assertion 'uri_string != NULL' failed
Things I have tried:
Reinstalling chatty from the software center.
Forcibly killing chatty and restarting it.
MMS proxy port number with and without
Checked to see if ForceCAres=true in ~/.mms/modemmanager/mms
Tried setting ForceCAres=false
Phone info:
Pinephone with Postmarketos 20230710-0752-postmarketOS-v23.06-phosh-22.2-pine64-pinephone running chatty version 0.7.2 and mmsd-tng version 2.3.0.
I have my APN settings set in chatty for Puretalk as
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
APN: RESELLER
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net  ( I have tried it both with and without the PORT # 80 at the end)
I think I may have found the problem, but I do not know how it happened.
There were 18 messages in ~/.mms/modemmanager/. Sending a new message added one more.
Some of these dated back to July.
I deleted all of them and it appears that for now the messages are received and processed and then deleted out of ~/.mms/modemmanager/ .
So now my question would be what caused this?
  Crashes when trasferring large folders
Posted by: x_x - 09-11-2023, 12:30 PM - Forum: General Discussion on ROCKPRO64 - Replies (7)
Hey! Since I have gotten my RockPro64 to use as a NAS, I have constantly experienced crashes when transferring large folders (mostly game files). A particular example which always causes crashes is my modded ARK install, spanning 160GB in 110000 files and 8000 folders.
When transferring said folder over rsync, both local or over the network, one of the next cases appears about 2-10 GB into the download:
  • rsync crashes and the download stops (this sometimes shows a message in the kmsg about hung processes)
  • the kernel throws an "Oops", which seems to be always different although I do not have the skills to debug it
  • the kernel just panics
  • the entire system just freezes up, with no panic or other indication visible on my HDMI monitor
  • the entire system just resets
When trying to rule down the problem, I found out that
  • it's not a filesystem problem, it occurs on  btrfs, ext4, zfs on linux and zfs on freebsd
  • it's not a hard drive problem, I tested two HDDs and one SSD
  • it's not a SATA controller problem, it occurs both on my PCIe card and on a USB adapter
  • it's not a network card problem, running iperf for long periods of time is fine
  • it's probably not a ram problem, I ran `memtest` with the highest value I could give it and I ran a MemTest86 test
  • it's not a linux distro (I was using Debian 11 and 12) problem or a linux kernel problem, the issues occur in a similar manner on FreeBSD
  • it's not a problem with my laptop's hard drive (or with the files, whatever that may be), I can transfer the folder onto different x86 machines
The issue mostly appears when transferring computer games. The ARK folder never completed transferring, but some smaller (20-40GB) games did (although inconsistently) when transferred at lower speeds, e.g. over the network or to/from an HDD. I also tried to tar the folder, both on my laptop before transferring over the network, and locally when plugging the drive to the rockpro64. The system still experienced crashes.
Interestingly, I also tried sending my laptops /dev/urandom over netcat to the NAS, which never crashed it, not even after reaching the 100GB mark and at high speeds.
Now, half a year after trying to use my rockpro64 as a NAS, I am truly clueless about the nature of this problem. I really don't know what to try to diagnose next.
Below you can find journald entries of the kernel oopses and hung processes. I don't seem to be able to upload pictures of FreeBSD kernel panics due to image size.
I hope that someone has a clue about what may be going on on my system.
