  Battery
Posted by: mshelby - 08-09-2023, 09:11 AM - Forum: PineTab Hardware - Replies (2)

Anybody else having issue that battery seems to run down rapidly, and the "charging. Time to full charge" estimates are really long?

I have a dell tablet with the same plug in charging port. The wall plug in charging chord charges my tablet in about 30 minutes. When I plug the same chord into the pinetab I get a "time to fully charged" estimate of 7 hours or more! My battery is listed as "battery_rk817" I believe.

Anyone else noticed this?

  Remove modem firmware
Posted by: aular - 08-09-2023, 07:19 AM - Forum: Arch Linux on PinePhone - Replies (10)

How or where can I remove all the modem firmware from the phone. I know about the exploit in the firmware but that is not my main concern right now. My main goal at this time is to remove all traces and files of the qucell modem and just leave the modem empty. I have other plans for that later. If that modem firmware has dependency issues is there a way to fill those files with empty slots with empty files and garbage to hold up the phone from breaking. Thanks

  Manjaro - HIbernate - brcmfmac clk issue
Posted by: pompeyPinePro - 08-08-2023, 06:44 AM - Forum: Linux on Pinebook Pro - Replies (1)

After using towboot & fedora with an nvme drive with dissapointing battery life and no suspend i have decided to have a go at a vanilla manjaro gnome image with u-boot.

I have got Suspend working well, and hibernate also working consistnent sadly without being able to recover the wireless adapter after resuming.

I have worked out from dmesg and journalctl what are normal errors, and have rmmod -f and re added the brcmfmac modules. Sadly though no success.

The relevent error from the device in dmesg and journalctl is

Code:
brcmfmac: brcmf_sdio_htclk: HT Avail timeout (1000000): clkctl 0x50

No amount of kernel module removal or reloading will get it to play post hibernate.

Hopefully this is enough info for someone more hardware oriented than me.

Code:
#Working sleep.conf
[Sleep]
Code:
AllowSuspend=yes
Code:
AllowHibernation=yes
Code:
AllowSuspendThenHibernate=yes
Code:
#AllowHybridSleep=yes
Code:
SuspendMode=suspend
Code:
SuspendState=freeze mem
Code:
HibernateMode=
Code:
HibernateState=disk
Code:
#HybridSleepMode=suspend platform shutdown
Code:
#HybridSleepState=disk
Code:
HibernateDelaySec=5000

  PPP not booting/starting anymore
Posted by: JonnJonz - 08-08-2023, 04:24 AM - Forum: PinePhone Pro Hardware - Replies (1)

Good morning,

After months of not looking about the phone I am try to bring it back to life. Hopefully someone has a good idea.

After the last update (KDE Plasma 5.25.80, last year?) the phone is bricked. Seems the UID/display driver is corrupted, plasma was squeezing the entire UID into the ~15-20% of the (top) display. With that nearly impossible to use the phone anymore.

But that is not my topic currently, not possible to start/boot the phone anymore. PPP refused charging the battery, I am using a 2.4A charger. Nothing happened after couple of days. Bought now an external battery charger from Pine, so the battery is fully charged.

Can not start/boot (without or with a SD card), nothing happened. But seems the phone is not completely dead, I can see a white mouse pointer (on a black display) after maybe 10 seconds after I presses the "On"-button. Can move the pointer around but not more.

Any ideas? Many thanks to the community ;-)

  Confused and frustrated w/ images installs setup
Posted by: angryuser - 08-08-2023, 12:32 AM - Forum: General Discussion of PinePhone Pro - Replies (5)

I just received my pinephone pro and have been in the process of trying to learn and understand the device. I have hit a brick wall as there seems to be no help out there that matches up with the current state of the phone.

1. Images - this took a minute to figure out, which I should never have to do when dealing with a COMPUTER device. It's a computer yeah? So the instructions on the main site, github, all forums are all incorrect in some way. They are either outdated, contain info that is no longer relevant, or just wrong. I went through and have tried:
    kali - did not work very well and crashed completely when installing kali-linux-nethunter. Gave up
    Mobian - Very wonky. No desktop, problems installing, Oh no you can't use apt at all. There is no software available
    Ubuntu touch which everyone talked abaout and the pinephone advertises is not for the pinephone pro even though the main site says it and points to the wrong download

I stopped playing after trying to install glodroid which does not work. So I went for just the Manjaro distros---
   None of them work. They have no pgp keys which you need to do anything. The username and password are wrong. You cannot use pacman as there are no keys, you cant make them, and it's a failure.

Everyone mentions the "set up" the initial boot where EVERY computer made by man asks you questions to set up the computer but for some reason not ONE 1 of the distros has any setup. So if there is no set up and the password and user are wrong and you can't create keys then what the heck can I do?

What I would really like is for a developer from pinephone to come on here and tell me EXACTLY what is available.
1.    I want a distro that is like ANY DISTRO you get on earth. Install then set up. Not a crappy image burned off some burned out devs raggedy tablet. After all this time how can there not be a stable distro? No set up? How? I paid 400 dollars. Nothing on this phone works including the phone.
2.Instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know that are current? That know that the phone now have the jump and the whatever else so its not telling me 50 instructions that are not needed or don't work.

What from linux can I use? apt, python, guake, anything? I don't know because none of the commands work. They are all missing something. Is there anyone or any place with any integrity and honesty who can tell me exactly where this phone is? So far it just seems way lower on the totem than a rapberry pi. It doesn't even come close to the latte panda, but what you should be most embarrassed about is that it's not even better than an udoo or a khadas

I don't expect any answers. I have a latte panda and an udoo so I know how the euro folk support devices. I still had to get that off my chest. It's a terrible product.

  [Article] RTOS on a RISC-V SBC: Star64 JH7110 + Apache NuttX
Posted by: lupyuen - 08-07-2023, 10:39 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Apache NuttX is a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) that runs on many kinds of devices, from 8-bit to 64-bit. (Think Linux, but a lot smaller and simpler)

In this tutorial we’ll boot NuttX on a 64-bit RISC-V Single Board Computer (SBC): Pine64 Star64, based on the StarFive JH7110 SoC.

If we're...
- Seeking a simpler, lighter Operating System for our RISC-V SBC (Alternative to Linux and Unix)
- Or just keen to learn how a RISC-V SBC boots from scratch
Then read on!

Exclamation USB mouse isn't working when a PP keyboard is attached?
Posted by: mikeb - 08-07-2023, 06:09 AM - Forum: PinePhone Accessories - Replies (6)

OS: PostmarketOS 23.06 with the latest updates
Hardware revision: most likely 1.2 something
PP keyboard's firmware version: 1.3, the latest
PP keyboard revision: unknown, but bought this year
PP firmware of a USB chip: the latest version from a link at https://wiki.pine64.org/wiki/PinePhone#F...X_firmware
U-Boot: the latest version by this instruction https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/PineP...ot_Upgrade

I wanted to use PP as a netbook - by adding the official PP keyboard, as well as a USB mouse by a simple OTG cable (which doesn't have to be powered). The PP keyboard manual says " The PinePhone’s USB-C port remains operational when mounted in the keyboard and can be used for data and peripherals. "
 However, when a PP keyboard is attached, the PP doesn't see a USB mouse - i.e. no events at dmesg kernel log. But the same USB mouse with the same OTG cable is working fine if I remove a PP keyboard.

This mouse has a built-in LED, which is OFF when a PP keyboard's battery is disabled and is ON when a PP keyboard's battery is enabled.
So I assume that enabling the built-in keyboard's battery somehow helps. But still can't get a successful mouse+keyboard experience. Other USB devices aren't working too when a PP keyboard is attached. Any ideas?
