There is no technical limitation. The ROCK64 using TV UI due to the primary video output is connected to TV.
Because there is no Android build without TV UI, are you planning to do one? Not many apps in this country support Android TV and they need side-load, and that's why I prefer regular Android, where the apps can be downloaded via Google Play.
Is there a way to remove the tv ui after its installed?
If you are referring to the UI, I am using nova launcher now , perfectly happy with that.
I tired using a launcher. Still there is no status bar or navigation bar, settings menu is different. It's not touchscreen friendly at all. I guess if they at least modify the systemui.apk and add status bar and navigation bar there will be no need to develop a regular Android build at all. Simply changing the launcher would solve almost all the problems (except the different settings menu which is not that terrible)
