Why are you using MyBB for this forum?

This forum runs on horrible software. One of the wors UX that I experienced with open source software.

What was driving the decision on choosing MyBB instead of amazing alternatives, like [Discourse](https://www.discourse.org/)?
Seems like simply the usual Pine64 way of doing things.

edit: I'm now discovering that it doesn't even support the de facto standard for simple formatting: Markdown.

I have had the following problems so far:
- It shows alerts for replies I have read: there are 2 replies on a post, it shows 2 alerts. I click the first, read it then scroll down to the other reply, and read that also. But the “Alerts” button still shows `(1)` for the other reply, and I have to click it to make it disappear.
- My replies in DMs are not shown in a conversation view.

Different strokes for different folks. I find Discourse disgusting to look at and awful to use. I much prefer the standard bulletin board systems that myBB provides.

If you don't understand how to use the software, that's on you. Maybe try some of the other pine64 communities aimed at your sensibilities, like Discord or Twitter or something.

Most BB systems use BBcode. It's been a de facto standard in most forum software for 20+ years.

If these are duplicatable issues that you feel are bugs, instead of you not knowing how to use the software, report it.

Speaking for myself, I no longer lurk here if they replace the simple PHP BB system with some Ruby/Javascript infested web-3.0 bullshit like Discourse.

Discourse is vastly inferior to BB systems and Markdown is simply crap...
