PineTab Early Adopter Edition
#1
Is there any work being done to make the PineTab early adopter edition usable? I haven't seen an OS update to be installed since I took delivery of the device.
The current state of the machine doesn't allow me to use it as an every day machine to do any work.

What are you after? I am making slow progress in the background on top of Danct12's Arch kernel - I would suggest it is relatively mature. You can then install some window manager on top and get a pretty nice experience for a 'laptop'-like device (if you have the keyboard) and a touchscreen.

You can try other OSes via an sd card,  Mobian has both the stable "Bullseye" and the testing Bookworm Nightly releases.

I want to use the tablet while on the road. I use LibreOffice for custom data bases I have created to run my business. I need to connect with my mail & web server while traveling. I want to be able to install and use software that I have on my Ubuntu 20.04 machines. Since I can do none of these things on the PineTab, it is useless in its current state. It seems to me that I should be able to boot a Ubuntu 20.04 install flash drive and install the OS to the internal SSD just like I do with any other hardware without flashing a SD card to try different OS's.

The option to use the sd card, is just that, "an option"

It can be handy for trying or testing other operating systems. and it is pretty quick and painless.

Like running your desktop or laptop from a 'live' disk, when you take out the media, your original OS is untouched.
