Replace/Solder USB-C port on Pinephone
#1
They very laggy USB-C port is a big issue for charging the phone (especially on a bicycle with dynamo or solar panel).

Is there any chance to solder a new port onto the phones pcb?
If yes, which parts would I need to buy?

Soldering I guess is somehow like this:

Any detailed walk-trough on how to open the phone and how to replace the port?

Cold I instead charge via pogo-pins with a 3d-printed custom case?

I can not understand the problem. If you want faster charging you should change the relevant settings in /sys filesystem to allow more current from the charger but the charger should be able to provide it, I think the phone goes to up a maximum of 3 Amperes. This has nothing to do with the USB port.

The problem is that most of the USB-C cables don't make full contact and flicker (loose connection),
its a known hardware issue and it sucks big time for me, thats why I need to replace the female connector on the phone!

if you are sure that the problem is the female connector I would suggest that you give the board to a repair center and they will fix it with the appropriate solder paste, hot air gun and the right connector, I philosophically prefer doing the job myself but if I know exactly what happens I prefer to give it to the professional to have the best technical result

The Pine64 store sells the replacement usb recepticles.
Just a matter of dis-assemble and re-assemble.

Unless the original design is your problem ?

I plan on adding that to one of my future parts or accessory orders so I can have one "just in case"...
