Change default program for a file type

I installed VLC, and I use this for audio. When I use portfolio, the file manager, to open an audio file, it opens in Totem.

I don't want Totem at all, but if I try to remove it, it tries to totally remove Phosh.

Therefore, I need a way to change the default for audio files, to VLC. How do I do it?

Attach a mouse or remote into the desktop with wayvnc, use the Mobian "Files" file manager instead of Portfolio, right-click on an audio file, select "Open With", then "Other Application", select application, select "Set as Default" on the lower right. (Right clicking on the file doesn't seem to work in Portfolio.)
