My issue is more basic. I can't find the SD slot at all. I have a headphone jack, power, USB, HDMI, mini Usb 2 and an expansion slot for an M.2 device. Perhaps it's hidden under something.

@yurievitch First off, this sub-forum is about the "Pinebook Pro" laptop. It does not have HDMI nor MiniUSB 2. Your comment is for another device. Please post in the correct forum.
Next, it's possible your device, (and you do not specify what it is), does not have a SD card slot.
