Pinephone inner frame fused to motherboard?
#1
Opened my phone to check connectors (re issue https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=10882).
Freed the inner frame around the edges only to discover that it is fused to the motherboard at an area next to the battery connectors.

Coincidently(?) this area is where the usb ribbon cable passes to the SOC. Presumably this could also relate to my usb issue? The frame sits normally flat so hasn't been distorted.

Is heating recommended to help removal? Otherwise removal might be destructive. Huh

I think there's a clip there, similar to the ones around the edges. There was no glue, and no need to heat, when I took mine apart. If you want to remove the main board that's a tight fit too.

@wibble thanks for the info. I did try some tentative prying/pulling with a small screwdriver. I'll get a bit more physical and try again. Gluewise I thought some could have migrated from the original battery transport insulation tab, as the phone got quite hot the glue might have set harder then intended.
