50% in shipping, absolutely insane, whilst (sadly) only $10 to the devs...

That is bonkers. In general European customers are worse off because they have to pay a lot of Tax (which most US customers don't). That remote area surcharge is also crazy...

DHL have a Remote Area List, the one for 2020 has been effective from April.

A Remote Area is defined as a post code or in the absence of post code, a suburb /town name that is difficult to serve. A delivery to one of the following post codes and towns would attract a Remote Area surcharge. For Import Express shipments, a pickup from one of the same post codes and towns would attract a Remote Area surcharge. Please refer to your service guide for the surcharge amount in local currency.

I find it surprising Switzerland has remote areas (it seems more than the UK!).

Aside from the surcharge, the cost is the same for me (and I expect the same for other EUs) may be a little bit more actually.

At least if you check the list, you can expect or not the surcharge to be added.

I also ordered an ANSI PBP to the US, the day before (Aug 22), my understanding was that the batch cutoff had been done a week or two before so the factory order was already in. We'll probably (hopefully?) by in the next shipment.

My PineTab is on its way to Germany and will arrive at my doorsteps on Wednesday.
@Germans: Please note that your shipment will be delivered by DHL Express which is *not*
your regular DHL delivery man. Most important: DHL Express accepts cash only (at least from private customers).
I expect to pay about €21 import tax ('Einfuhrumsatzsteuer') plus €12.50 DHL surcharge for customs handling ('Kapitalbereitstellungsprovision').
I'm fine with that, as I don't need to go to the Customs Office, queue up there, present invoices, etc. From my perspective 12.50 Euro surcharge fee are very cheap.
