We are current change the camera module due to previous module doesn't have opens source driver. This new CUBE board back on next week and hopefully able to bring up successfully. The new camera module is Omnivision OV5640 5MPixel and CUBE price still maintain at $19.99. If next week hardware is good for production, we will introduce on Q4 2019.
It's been a few months, any news on this? I've been holding out on it because I'd like an open source hackable camera rather than another Foscam or going with Wyze or something else.
There is an issue on the new spin PCB and current try to sort out. Once sort out, we will resume back CUBE project and release on Q1.
Thanks! Good to know there's still progress.

I'm glad to see that this project is going forward. I'd love to see some additional hardware details published.

New camera board back few days ago and now back to bring up stage. Hopefully the hardware issue resolved this time and we can move ahead.
Extremely exciting times!
It will be so good to stop hacking on Xaiofangs and Dafangs etc. and just work with something open and accessible in the first place.

Hopefully that February community update will share some good news. Like a potential pre-order or sale date?
Hey I realize this is kind a crazy time globally, but is there any news on the Cube?

The original vendor quit the project due to COVID19, we are in the process of reroute this project to new vendor. Hopefully can introduce on June time frame.
Is there a provision to convert this to a true day-night camera by using a IR-cut filter switch? (Example: http://www.cctvopticallens.com/IR-Cut-Fi...witch.html)
For a side interest of mine, I was checking out DIY bookscanners ( diybookscanner.org) which at this time mainly use canon camera's with CHDK ( Canon Hack Development Kit) firmware replacements and a raspberry Pi to control.
I was wondering if we could user the IP cube for making images/pictures instead of video streams?
And if possible, which picture resolutions would physically be possible (x * y, MPixels), since for book scanning you need a decent resolution (better than FHD).
Which OS will be running on the Cube? I assume it will be possible to extend the OSS firmware with still capture functionality.
Just a idea
Regards Paul

Is there any update on the cube? Still targeting this month?
Thanks!
