A new update has been posted in the OP. To save those reading this a bit of time:

On the 25th, the forum preorders ended and public preorders began. At this point, all coupons have gone out. If you did not receive yours or it has expiry issues, you need to email pinebook@pine64.org about it by this Friday (the 30th).

First batch units (the first 100) are now in production! They will be shipping out very soon.

Second batch units will start production in late September or early October. The majority of these units are 128GB, and are going to the rest of those who entered the forum preorder system. However, about 200 units from this batch were not claimed in the early preorders, and instead are being sold as 64GB units in the first public preorders.

As you claimed this here, But the email I received says otherwise.

Quote:We apologize as the free upgrade of 128GB Pinebook Pro was run out of stock, hence, we are not able to generate you a new coupon code for purchase.

I dont know how was the forum preorder list generated, as they seem to not have my name in the list while I signed-up when not even 400 sign-up's were completed and now when I emailed the pinebook support this is the message I got.

Quite disappointed.  Angry

Ugh. I was on vacation and away from e-mail - coupon has expired. I've emailed sales but I am not hopeful to get the 128GB eMMC version.

Months of anticipation and then a coupon with a two-day window.

I just cannot facepalm enough.

Yeah, releasing two-days lifetime coupons, on vacation period, around end of month, is kinda strange.

@fire219 and @Luke

What can be done in my case? I was in the preorder list for forum users but now the email claims that they're not able to generate more coupon code as 128gb ran out of stock?

How is that possible when user fire219 mentioned that 200 out of 1000 from batch2 was not even claimed?

And it is not about 128Gb or 64gb for me it was being in the first or second batch and not the 3rd batch for public.

Please check if there is anything is possible for me as i need it for development purpose only.

Thanks

Thanks - no reply from that address.

The sales address said they would be in contact on Monday 3 September anticipating the same response others have had i.e. 128GB eMMC not available any more.

I'm somewhat disappointed with the Coupon "fiasco" to be frank. Coupon that expires the same day that the email is received -> email sales for code re-issue as per instruction -> told that the 128GB eMMC upgrade is sold out and that I should go with the public preorder. And now I read here that some 128GB codes should have still been available... I still preordered from the open public preorder, and I'm perfectly happy with the 64GB version, but this whole thing left a rather bitter taste in my mouth...
I can't blame any of you for being disappointed. There's definitely some things that need to be changed to make preorders run more smoothly. We're discussing them now.

On my part, I should clarify that the 200 units that were not sold in the 1st and 2nd batches were sold as part of the first set of public preorders. Additionally, when your coupons expired, the units that were previously reserved for you were let back into the pool of availability for public preorders. This is done because many people enter the preorders, but never actually purchase the product (forgetfulness, not enough money, etc.).

It was thought that 48 hours would be enough, while allowing for rapid turnaround for users who weren't able to be in the initial preorders. That was clearly not the case. All I can really do at this point is apologize.
