Installer does not work for me
#1

Hello,

I read the thread here:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4661

downloaded installer and tried to flash my 128 gb micro sd card ( sandisk class 10)
I get an error every time i try to  flash anything to the sd card

I wanted to try something like q4os or android as some websites take a while to load on kde neon.

I am using the windows installer and running windows 8.1 pro 64 bit

My pinebook is a 11.6'' 1080p version

as a side note how can i get hdmi to work on kde neon? It doesn't seem to work

If you have a smaller SD card, try that. I have had good success with 16GB SD cards using the installer.

Yes, HDMI doesn't work on KDE Neon. I understand the newer kernels like what is used in AOSC will support it, but it is still sketchy where there is support for the HDMI.

I tried 2 other cards

Samsung 16 gb class 10
sandisk 32 gb ultra class 10

tested both of the card with h2testw no issues and i used them for other purposes as well

I get same error on both of them

Whatinstaller version are you using? I am using the latest one

Also for anyone using KDE neon can you guys test pricegrabber and slickdeals for loading times?
These sites take over a minute to load  on kde neon.. i realize that websites that are loading multiple images like these  may take a bit longer but my windows and android tablets that have the same amount of ram only take like 5-6 seconds to load them

I have been using the Installer v2.03 beta on a Mac. But I have also just used dd on a linux machine (I have a Chromebook running Linux) which also works.

On a sidenote, I also run KDE neon, did a quick test on pricegrabber and sidedeals, They appear to load reasonably fast (using Firefox v63) taking 5 and 10 seconds respectively to load.

Thanks for the insight as this answered my concerned

I used my linux mint desktop for the installer and it worked fine , there seems to be an issue with the windows based installer.

Did you tweak any of your kde neon settings, for me it takes too long to load those websites

Q4OS seems neat, kind of reminds me of windows 98 with the sound effects it has
