Update from the opened ticket: it was indeed DOA, this unit is getting a RMA.
If you are having the same issue and ended up finding that forum post your best option for now is to open a support ticket on the "Order Support" section of the website https://desk.zoho.com/portal/pine64/home
Meanwhile if anyone want me to check anything specific inside to understand what the issue is before I have to send it back I will gladly try to do my best to have a look.
