@dsimic the wires are "punched down" in the connector. I find that the wires can simply be torn out of the connector, by pulling at a right angle. They can be punched down with a small flat-blade screwdriver.
This is probably the smallest thing I can successfully work on without specialised machinery and magnification. I thought it would be much harder than it it.
