I do have a 9th generation (not sure what happened to 8th) Amazon fire tablet. It is based on Android 7. I could try to see if the same guides work for it also.
I happen to have an Android phone I bought in 2018 which happens to be version 7. It gets Google store updates all the time.
You may want to try one of those Guides to get Google play on Amazon fire tablets. There are numerous other services you have to install prior to actually putting the Google Play store on it.
I also have a Grandstream VoIP telephone which uses Android 4.2 or 4.4 as the interface in the screen. In this case, Google play store is not installed by default. They have their own Grandstream store installed. Though, there is a link in it to install Google Play store. It also works
