I think it's matte. It doesn't seem to suffer from unwanted reflections, at least.

Fresh out of the box, terrible. After just a few hours of use, already much better.

Very little flex. The case feels really sturdy and solid, in spite of how light it is. (I wonder how much of the cost of manufacture is just from the case...)

Open-and-close action feels smooth. Force gets balanced nicely across the hinges, even if I open/close from a corner. Lid tends to stay in whatever state I put it in.

The port grips the plug very well. There's no choke at all on the adapter that came with mine. It's not very long, but it's a 5V adapter so length has a big effect on efficiency... and the battery life is so good, I actually had it unplugged for almost all of my troubleshooting yesterday and used about 25% of a charge.

No noise at all while operating, at least not that I could hear. I'm in a slightly noisy environment at all times these days, but I'm also normally sensitive to electronics whine.
(11-01-2019, 10:56 AM)cartoonworld Wrote: For that matter, how do the builtin speakers sound and did your issues affect them?
I actually hadn't tested them yet, so I tested them just now. Very poor low frequency response, but ... ugh, just had a terrifying mental image of a laptop with a subwoofer... Anyway, in the upper frequencies it's fine. Overall, a decent small-speaker experience.
Someone in another thread was concerned about the fact that they're downward-facing and that that might cause suboptimal sound if used on a soft surface like a lap or a blanket. I can confirm the validity of that concern.

I'm also loving my ROCKPro64, and counting the days until I can get my hands on one of the Brave Heart edition Pine Phones.

My boxes were physically intact, but given how loose every single thing that wasn't taped down was in my case, I can only imagine.

Is there anything I can do to help? Aside from a willingness to work way too hard to get small things working, I have some experience with microcontrollers and the like. (It's a shame my "rocket control interface" never made it to GitHub even though this terrible thing did...)
