Same here, I also have to use an VGA to HDMI adapter, since I only have that monitor, and the pine 2GB only displays the red light on the board, but the monitor doesn't appear to be receiving any sort of signal.
What good is a $29 single board computer, when you have to buy a new monitor to use it? I wish the developers could provide an easy step by step way to install all the available images, providing basic troubleshot scenarios, and what's so hard about programming the images to display by default a standard resolution that can be handled by even older monitors?
So far I haven't been able to even see if my Pine64 works. Didn't have that problem when starting out with my Raspberry Pi 2 nor with my Latte Panda. This really sucks.
