Hi, you're probably more technical than I am, but I did see your 'PS' and noticed that info wasn't mentioned in the "steps to reproduce" in the issue tracker, so thought it might be worthwhile suggesting here (I know I've been caught with similar things in the past!). So have you tried:
a) plugging the drive directly into Pine64 without the USB hub?
b) a USB 2.0 drive?

I don't have a Pine assembled at the moment or I'd try these myself, especially since I'll need this feature too on ayufan's great Android 6 build, too. So please let us know how you get on!  Smile
