Chadilac, I'll be anxiously waiting on your results (and anyone else's that wants to give it a try and report back here).
Inside the Sonoff is an ESP8266. In particular I am interested in if you end up having to reprogram the flash memory in the ESP8266 to get it up and running like this guy did:

It is a great example. His hardware is based around the Sonoff, Openhab and an Arduino. His code is there as are the steps to reprogram the flash memory.
The cool thing is that the ESP8266 can be set up to work remotely over wifi with no control board (Arduino, pine, raspberry,...). And they are very inexpensive and readily available. They can be set up to control relays, as temperature sensors,... I could see them working well with Openhab on a Pine.
