Anyway, whew, in the time since my last post, I managed to merge the DP support in the historic PBP Manjaro kernel into a modernish 7.x kernel and had the PBP dock working quite well with the PBP. Regrettably, that laptop was stolen from me a few weeks ago, and I hadn't uploaded the patchset anywhere.
That said, it wound up being rather trivial so I would recommend to anyone that does want to get a PBP and PBP dock working together (which imo shouldn't have been this much of a rigamarole...) applying the old patches, give or take the effort to reconcile them with a current kernel, you actually can get this to work with an otherwise upstream Linux kernel these days. This page appears to have similar info: https://discourse.nixos.org/t/custom-ker...ro/68061/2
Unfortunately the Manjaro GitLab links there, as of this posting, are simply taking forever to load and will presumably time out for me. I believe those AltDP patches *are* the precise ones I then hacked into a more recent kernel. Happy to offer help if you're trying to do this same thing. I'm kinda miffed about the laptop being stolen because everything was finally perfect as far as what I needed from it...
Sorry to know that your PBP got stolen. If you plan to attend FOSDEM 2027, I may able to pass one PBP to you.
