The machine starts up when you plug it into a power source. That's a known "feature." I try to plug it in before shutting it down. Then it stays shutdown.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'm wondering: is this a pine-feature or a linux feature?
I (try to) have the nasty habbit of cycling through Europe for a few months each year, and while traveling I charge my gadgets from a dynamohub and some self crafted hardware. That means that at every red traffic light I encounter, the voltage goes to zero, until it reaches 5 volt again somewhere across the street and charging restarts. I actually purchased the pinetab to accompany me on my travels (and because I like what Pine64 is doing and because I sincerely dislike some OS producing techfirms that I will not name here but you'll probably be familiar with).
Now this "feature" has as an extremely stupid consequence that I'll be charging my tablet as it's fully operational in a closed bikepannier.
To me , to put it mildly, this does not seem to be the most efficient way of charging my - otherwise totally lovely - new gadget. To put it less mildly: ithis is a feature you want in servers, not in consumer electronics. And if you do have it in consumer electronics it should default to "off".
So I'm really curious who figured this "feature" out. Was it this Thorvalds fellow, one of his nephews at Danctnix, somebody at the pineclub or one of the factory workers where our tablets are being assembled?
I also may need this persons' emailaddress.
