This is the closest I've ever seen to a convergence DEThat would be because not only has gnome-shell been using some design concepts from mobile DEs from the beginning, even on desktops (e.g., running all applications maximized without window decorations), but there has also been work recently to allow using the standard gnome-shell instead of Phosh on mobile devices. (There are already some OS images for the PinePhone that allow you to try that out.)
